Teamlowe, you're so right. I'm 21 weeks and haven't been approached with a tape measure yet. :-) Was it you saying about having painful hips? Can I ask if you have PGP/SPD as no one else here seems to have my aches and occasional difficulty walking.
It was, I should be long gone from this thread but there's too many dear ttc friends here for me not to keep an eye on you guys
I've not been diagnosed and speaking with the midwife yesterday there's not much they can do anyway unless it's really really bad and she said hopefully as baby moves up it'll relieve some of the pressure around there making it easier.
two things to try though. she suggested getting a birthing ball and NO BOUNCING but in the evenings put cushions on the floor, kneel on cushions and rest your arms on the ball, which will take the weight off your hips and give them a rest.
I've also bought this cushion:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Summer-Infant-Ultimate-Body-Pillow/dp/B0035ER15K it's a bit expensive (I'm sure you could find it on ebay) but to me it's worth its weight in gold, I've definitely noticed a difference in my hips since I started sleeping with it. and once baby is here it can be used as a nursing pillow and a support pillowLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

With the heartbeat thing - our midwives don't listen at the 15 week appt either - but like teamlowe I had my own Doppler so wasn't overly concerned - plus this is my 2nd baby so I could feel some movements at 15 weeks which was reassuring.
The next appt for me wasn't until 24 weeks and they listened in then to the heartbeat.
I'd been listening to it since 9 weeks - so all that about not being able to find it is a bit weird I think. I do actually prefer my Doppler to theirs as well - altho I have stopped using it now (36weeks). At the 34 week check when she did the Doppler you could actually hear the baby having hiccups - that was really cool. I feel it all the time (it has a >lot< of hiccups, lol!) but I never even thought to listen to it myself.
The don't start recording your measurements on a graph until 28 weeks - but it is very subjective as to how the baby is laid etc - so I wouldn't get too stressed out even if the results come back different. The are mainly looking for a big drop in expected growth or a big rise.Married my lobster in July 2011

TBH when i went for the 16 week appointment I'd worked myself up into such a state about what if she couldn't find the heartbeat or find it quickly that when she said 'we don't do that just yet' it was sort of a relief.
She also didn't measure my uterus with a measuring tape, just felt where it was up to and said 'that's about right'. and looking from the other thread there seems to be a lot of needless worry and growth scans when it's a cm or two out.
So I think the general overall philosophy seems to be 'don't worry and stress out pregnant ladies' which I'm on board with as an easily worried lady lol I trust the midwifery team - there's signs all over their clinics saying how highly rated they are and they've delivered pretty much everyone I know lol
I agree. It is weird how different every area is, you think there would just be a standard.
I was in a state too, bursting out crying before saying I dont want it done. But as she said Id get a scan that afternoon if she couldnt find it, and shed never not found it before, I let her. I knew shed want to, I mean she said shed have a go at 9 weeks so I had no chance at 16 of getting away from her & the doppler :rotfl: I felt amazing afterwards though and glad I let her.
Wow cant believe some would get a measuring tape out at that stage! My stomach is still pretty much flat when I lie down, apart from in the evening. Mine did the same thing, just felt for it which I still find funny as I cant feel anything! Which was a good lesson to me, to stop reading google about people feeling their uteruses and stop prodding myself!0 -
@Kynthia: I agree a birthing ball is helpful, although I just used it for sitting on watching TV.
I also found putting an extra soft layer under my bedsheets helped a lot when I was lying in bed (I used a spare duvet). I think it helped because my pelvis could sink down into it rather than me having to have my hips at an angle to lie flat on my side (if that makes sense).
And I am having some difficulty walking this time around too, but it's not as bad as last time (yet).Mortgage when started: £330,995

Congratulations sxekitten!! Very happy for you.
Kynthia my hips have had some pain, but Ive always had dodgy hips. What doesnt help is that Im a size 6/8 but my hips are size 10 and so unless Im lying on a nice soft duvet, I can get some really achy/painful hips when I lie on my side - like if theres no where for them to go as Im out of proportion! When we went travelling and slept on some hard beds the pain could wake me up in the night.
Sometimes the pain has gone down my leg. I also had a back pain problem once and thought I had sciatica. So I am a bit worried my hips might get worse.0 -
Check Argos for a cheap fitness ball instead of birthing ball.0

Bump is starting to show more now; still very low but at least I'm starting to feel more pregnant haha! Think Once I have some more flattering and supportive clothing it will be better
I wasn't measured or weighed at my 16 week appointment; midwife didn't even feel for my uterus! I did get to hear the heartbeat though, almost indecently low down! Which remind me I must call the surgery today and try to book my 24 week appointment in
I have a fitness ball at my parents but too scared to bring it to ours in case the pup takes a fancy and pops the darn thing :P Think mine was only £5 or so
I think little one must be going through another growth spurt as I could happily graze all day and am feeling stretched on the inside. Trying more fruit and fibre rich foods too to try and help with the constipation.
I'm excited to find out how long baby is at our next scan in a couple of weeks as she was 11cm crown to rump at our early gender scan!
Bf and his brother painted the spare room a beautiful shade of pink this week so it was done with all bf's upcoming travels/adventures. I keep walking in and just standing in awe at how we are going to make it so lovely for little one
Bf's birthday in two weeks (just before our scan) so need to get him an extra present from bump. Won't get a 'daddy' card though will just add bump to mineHave decided to start picking up 'world's best dad' style stuff and little jokey bits to make him a new dad hamper as a surprise. Will get my parents to deliver it hehe

Don't know if this is any use to you ladies but kiddicare are offering 15% off spends over £100 until 3rd November - quite good as this was the only place we found Bugaboo's at a half decent price - an extra 15% off is awesome. Xx

another day off work today, dizzy and lightheated again
Got midwife appointment on Monday, supposed to be 15 weeks but I was too late booking so I will be 18 weeks, looking forwards to it as i'm feeling worried/anxious that something will be wrong so hopefully get reassurance.0 -
Hugs to those who aren't feeling great. Con I got dizziness and lightheaded last time but they didn't seem too concerned about it. Soooo glad I don't have to work this time round. Today I just feel exhausted. All I have done is walked to the toddlers group about 5 mins away and mainly sat there drinking coffee
Little bubs is moving around a lot which is lovely although he keeps tickling me which is a weird sensation! It still feels surreal that he's in there even though I have seen the scans.
Becca I hadn't thought about how close we are to moving to the big thread. It seemed so far away when I first joined.0
