Hope you're feeling better soon Con. Ha any food is food when you're ill!

I told DH about the nct course ' 5 weeks learning about that breathing stuff?!'

So he got a lecture on the course and made to read the content on my email lol

Yeah I work with kids & have experience with babies in the family but from what I can tell the nct ante natal course is half about the birth, one session on breast feeding and then a smaller part about after the birth, sleeping eating etc

They run separate baby first aid & parenting courses. I already have a paediatric first aid cert and I don't think I'm interested in the parenting one so much.

My hospital does a free 1 day thing on that anyway I think.

DH also said I will just need to hold your hand and breathe won't i? He's watched a million OBEM episodes with me but I think it will be good for him to hear more gory details about birth & pain relief as I don't think he really has much idea about that aspect.

Thanks, have just received a FB message back from someone I know who recently had a baby and went to the classes, she said they are good for learning about the birth etc so I think we will go afterall. OH wont be happy but I'll drag him. Our NHS runs them for free over 4 weeks and they also do the first aid and feeding workshops so won't need to pay so be rude not to go I guess, if I really don't like it after the first session then I am not obliged to go back I guess.

:T:TLove it, sounds just like something I'd do. :rotfl:

I enquired about an NCT course a few weeks back, and they've been chasing me to book. Now that I've had me 20 week scan I probably will. Because we don't know which borough we'll be living in I've booked a class that's 2 Sundays and a Monday evening, so that we're not rushing from one borough to the other repeatedly after work if we haven't moved yet. Claire and sjlou, when are you booking for? Mine's the 1st week if Feb which ends less than 4 weeks before my due date and I wonder if that's a bit late?
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

Oh yes my DH doesn't get away with anything :rotfl:

I booked one (as it did say mid march to April births) that ended 18 days before my edd (or 26 going off my dates) but the woman emailed me to suggest two other courses as they recommend it finishes 28-56 days before but was fine if I didn't want to swap.

Anyway one of the ones she suggested which finishes about 50 days before happens to be on a better day for DH work wise so we've gone with that. I think it's about 5 sessions so runs from mid jan to early feb. My edd is end of march.

Our NCT classes said you could get a refund if you didn't manage to attend the full course due to pregnancy related reasons.

One of our group had her baby 5 weeks early after just one class.

Personally I found it useful - if only to get OH thinking about the road ahead! He's a man of few words so it was good to get him discussing stuff.

The content was useful. Obviously could be found from other sources - NHS, online, books etc. but a friendly group & I expect we will continue to meet up & offer each other support.

Kynthia Our classes are 5 evening sessions running from mid jan to early feb, when I'll be 34 weeks.

I guess it just depends what courses are available. I could have gone to a class a little bit further away for a weekend course, which would have been a little bit closer to my due date.
    Are there any others nearby?

    ttc40 nice top...but I'm trying to not spend!! :D

Maybe were on the same course :rotfl:

They add on £40 if you want nct membership but I think ill do it as my friend said its worth it as you get in early to the nct nearly new sales which seem to be on all the time around here! And she said they sometimes have big toys and equipment for really cheap prices.

Well, we had our 20 week scan and it was AMAZING! Loved every second of it, after being in total shock at our 12 week scan that everything was ok. Everything is fine, baby is growing normally! We are TEAM YELLOW:j although I was trying to sneak a peek (I don't actually want to know!!)

    Here is mini Becca

Kynthia - that doesn't sound a great experience :( at least everything was healthy and fine x

Claire - I worked it out properly and it's £300 diff but it incl car seat. It's a lot of money but I'm in LOVE with the more expensive one. Trust me!

Wow Rummer it's going so quickly! Hope you enjoyed your breastfeeding session :)

On the subject of NCT, we have booked our classes which run until early Feb so a month before my EDD. Really looking forward to them, have a lot to learn.

I also added the membership Claire, and we are off to our first sale on the first Sat in November :D

What a lovely scan Becca :D do you have a gut feeling as to whether you are expecting a girl or a boy?

The workshop went well, it gave me a chance to ask some very specific questions which had been on my mind.

I don't need to go to the classes as this is my second and I did the NHS classes the first time round. What I am going to do though is go to the Bumps and Babies group that our local NCT group run to hopefully meet more people as when I had my DD I didn't know any other mums.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
