Good luck Becca! £400 price difference eek! If they're similar I'd pick the cheapest then!
Kynthia that sounds horrible! I'd be really scared if they got another person in & I also couldn't see the screen.
Lush my tummy feels a bit firmer too.
I'm still too scared to buy anything yet although having said that idid buy this picture to put in the nursery however I bought a few of them & some are for friends having babies so I'm pretending in my head they're just for them..plus out of the ones I bought I need to know the gender before I pick one so technically i don't know which one I want yet!
I threw up a load of stomach bile this morning that was pretty gross!0 -

They didn't 'get' him in as such, he came in and they were like "oh, you're good at finding the kidneys, can you take a look while you're here?". There wasn't any moment of concern thankfully. My scan was practically a social event for them.
We haven't bought a thing yet as I think psychologically we're waiting for a new house or at least the January sales. All we've done is look at travel systems. However we found a house on Saturday that we're very interested in.....fingers crossed.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
In two days time I will be graduating to the big pregnancy thread
Going to a breastfeeding workshop today which I am looking forward to. Been reading quite a lot about it and if anyone is looking for a good book I can recommend:
The Food of Love by Kate Evans which is funny, easy to read yet packed with great information
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by LLL A different style of book still with loads of valuable information.
The second one I got as a Kindle version so I can dip into it one handed when baby is here :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Yes DH said to me yesterday we may as well wait for the January sales for big stuff.
Just reserved a place on my local nct course. Being on the London 'fringe' apparently means we get charged more but my hospital only seems to do a 2 hour one day job & my friends who have done NCT seem to really like it & made good friends.
It's a bit of a joke though, my friend is a teacher and we're 3 miles west of her not getting the London fringe payment, yet when it comes to paying for this we are now in the 'fringe.'
Who draws these maps! They should be consistent!
It's about £2 more per hour but the London price is another £4 on top of that! I find it a bit of a cheek as they seem to be held in church halls or peoples houses.0 -
oh Kynthia that doesn't sound very good at all. I'd be fuming!!
Why is it that they all seem to assume you know what to do? Unless someone tells me that I need a full/empty bladder then I'm not likely to have it the right way round!
Like me sat in the doctors waiting room for ages, only when I asked if there was a hold up I was told "oh that clinic is downstairs you don't need to wait up here"!!
hope you feel better soon, get plenty of rest and stay hydrated.
claire we've booked onto an nct course, really looking forward to it. think oh is too, will hopefully make him feel more involved. Must be difficult for the guys seeing us experiencing all that pregnancy involves and not being able to do a lot to help etc..
that is annoying about the price increases, it really does make you think that they're just making it up sometimes with the boarders.
I think we'll get more of the big items in the sales.Mini me due March 2014

Con someone at my work had that one & loved it
she recommended it to me.
20 week scan this morning am very very excited, especially as little one had been very active the past few days
ThanksIt's the first one I have saw and thought ' oooh' it's probably cos of the Mickey Mouse, I LOVE Disney especially Mickey and Minnie, was thinking of doing the nursery mickey/minnie themed, just neutral colours at the moment then depending on sex adding in some blue mickey things or pink minnie things.
I'm still off work today, feeling slightly better managed to make myself some 'food' I say it in inverted commas as it was Supernoodles, not exactly nutritious but one of my cravings lol !!0 -
Hope you're feeling better soon Con. Ha any food is food when you're ill!
I told DH about the nct course ' 5 weeks learning about that breathing stuff?!'
So he got a lecture on the course and made to read the content on my email lol0 -

Thanks, they were sooo good. I don't usually eat things like that so taking full advantage.
I haven't booked on any classes yet, I'm not sure I want to, I think I'll find them awkward... but then again don't want to miss anything important..... I worked in creches and have worked with babies as young as 2 weeks old before so I reckon I know anything I need to know but what if I don't ?! I will go to the breastfeeding one as obviously haven't done that before and I do want to give it a try.
They also run an infant resusitation class that I will go to, I have done it before but be good to refresh plus they often change the method.
It's just the actual parenting ones i'm not sure about..0 -

Yeah I work with kids & have experience with babies in the family but from what I can tell the nct ante natal course is half about the birth, one session on breast feeding and then a smaller part about after the birth, sleeping eating etc
They run separate baby first aid & parenting courses. I already have a paediatric first aid cert and I don't think I'm interested in the parenting one so much.
My hospital does a free 1 day thing on that anyway I think.
DH also said I will just need to hold your hand and breathe won't i? He's watched a million OBEM episodes with me but I think it will be good for him to hear more gory details about birth & pain relief as I don't think he really has much idea about that aspect.0 -
My NCT course was mostly about the birth - the biology of it (stages of labour etc), pain relief, breathing techniques (which didn't work for me at all, but everyone's different!), positions for labour, what happens during assisted births/c sections. Plus a session on breastfeeding and another on what happens after the birth (how to handle a baby, techniques to stop babies crying etc, plus a bit for the Mums on practicalities like taking giant sanitary pads to the hospital and knickers you don't mind getting ruined!).
Best part for us was meeting the other local Mums and Dads to be. We had a nice group and met up loads during maternity leave. Still see them occasionally.
OH and I also did a St John's baby first aid course (I think there was a discount voucher in the bounty pack I got last time round). Would definitely recommend doing some sort of baby 1st aid just so you know the basic steps you need to follow in an emergency, even if you don't remember the details precisely.Mortgage when started: £330,995
