Got another baby bargain today: fisher price rainforest playmat for £5 off a facebook selling group (not the musical melody one, the flat one with one arch). Our son had it when he was a baby so it's nice to think that they can both have the same one :)

I was really happy a few weeks ago when I managed to get the same "Guess How Much I Love You" baby record book for baby as I had for my son, I wasn't expecting to find it due to the 17 year age gap-I cried when it was delivered!

We have a few names shortlisted, one in particular I really want and we are in agreement, but keeping quiet incase it doesn't suit her when she arrives-I will not give in to my mothers nagging!

Thank you all for your get well wishes and thoughts for my gran, she is now on morphine and being kept comfortable-their way of saying that it is unlikely she will get better I think. I would love it if she was still here when baby arrives, but it is very sad seeing her so uncomfortable and not really recognising us. Maintaining hospital visits is very tiring and stressful :(

firey-I got a dress from Mothercare for a christening I'm going to. It is gorgeous on and very flattering, I had tried on a few in different shops and love this one, not very MSE, but I love it.

We have got our boys name (I think) as we had it on my 2 previous pregnancies and obv never used it! Maybe destined never to be used. Got a handful of favourites for girls - ive always had a firm favourite prior to giving birth but always talked about a few names with family so its a surprise to them :)

If I'd been a boy, I'd have been Edward.

If my next sister had been a boy, she's have been Edward, too.

If sister #2 had been a boy, she'd also have been Edward.

Then my brother was born - and my parents were sick to death of the name Edward, even though they'd never actually used it lol. So he's something completely different!

Great to heat good reviews about the breast pump. I'm planning to exclusively breast feed for at least 4 months but want to try and get her used to a bottle from a few weeks old so she can be given expressed breast milk, that way I can provide breast milk for her when she's at nursery when I go back to work in October. I hope she's listening to all of these plans and co-operates lol!

It can work - Isaac had only breastmilk until 6 months (mostly BF, some expressed once I went back to work) and then a mix of a bit of food, although he was a slow learner-to-eat baby, until a year old. Then he went on to some formula, as I'd totally had enough of expressing by then!
trying to be organised I ordered a maternity dress off ASOS for a wedding I'm going to in 4 weeks time, thought id order maternity as I don't know how big/small my bump will be in 4 weeks! got it today I'm so disappointed, it's horrific ha, looks like a tent! you could fit 4 of me in it, it's so baggy. very unflattering, I'll be returning it and looking for a normal dress that's not too fitted I think ha!

I've got a dinner to go to in a month's time that's glammed-up black tie, and there's a 3 line whip in Chambers for us all to go; it's in one of the Inns of Court. God only knows what I'll wear! At gone 6 months, I doubt any of my normal black tie dresses will go near me then, and I'm reluctant to spend a fortune on a dress I won't exactly get a lot of wear out of. I'll need to give it some thought.

Sorry to hear your Granny's so ill, and hope that the morphine helps give her peace and calm.

  • that's a lovely dress mrs happy :) id get it if it wasn't black! looks so much more fitted than the asos one. sorry to hear about your gran. :(

I think I'll have to leave it until last minute to get a dress then I know what size I'll be but I hate doing that, I find it stressful! or get one that's quite baggy ha :)

I don't want to jinx myself but maybe I'm having the 'bloom' haha! my hair has gone a lot thicker! and I have a surprising amount of energy, like this week iv had to get up at half 5 every morning for work but iv not been too knackered at night. a month ago it would have been a different story! I'm sure I'll be regretting saying that in a few days :)
  • Hi
we have reuseables from DS, a mixture of totsbots, mio solos some tiny nippers and a green living. Like disposables its best not to buy to many of one brand as they do fit differently.
Inserts can be made by cutting and hemming fleece blankets.

On FB there is a page called CBM sales (cloth bum mum sales) and they sell nappies, wraps, wetbags, inserts and customs most pre-loved.
Also the nappy lady does trial packs as may your local nappy lady so you can see what suits you.

My hg has not subsided and I now have a yucky cold. I don't seem to be blooming other than my nails look nice.

Nothing came of the protein so guess its ok.

Morning ladies. About to head back to bed to sleep for a bit. Used some new body wash night before last in the bath and last night I broke out in itchy spots all over. The kind that you scratch and scratch and just cannot get the itch to go away. Ended up having to take a shower at about 11 last night, then putting benadryl ointment over a lot of area. I hate it too, because I really like the way the body wash smells and feels, and the body butter that matches it doesn't bother me. :(

Ended up not getting to sleep until well after 1 am due to the allergic reaction.

I really really hope that mini doesn't have sensitive skin like me. It's a huge pain in the bum!

Ouchies, Mrs_TM! Hope it dies down really quickly today.

I hope you manage to get a nice dress Firey, it is hard to know in advance. That is a really classy lace dress Mrs Happy, and it's a great price compared to some of the stuff I saw online. Good luck with the black tie dress Neverdespairgirl. Is it something you could borrow from friends?

So far my bump is very small, there's only 2 pairs of jeans I can't button up comfortably. Otherwise I'm (boringly) still in all my usual clothes. I guess we will all get big soon enough!

Nice to know what nappies you have Glimmer, and good to know about the FB group. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. I'm looking at the Tots Bots nappies too Mary for the voucher spend. Otherwise I'm trying to get opened but unusued / lightly used ones from Gumtree to keep costs down a bit, but still leave some good wear in them for a second baby (hopefully someday).

  • Aw mrstm that sounds nasty :( hope it clears up soon. My OH's mum is the same as you - she can't use 80-90% of body washes, soaps, shampoos etc because she has such severe reactions. My OH doesn't seem to have inherited any of her sensitivity issues though. Hopefully your little one will be ok :)

I'm home in bed again too today, my hip killed me throughout last night :( hurry up physio referral!!!!

  • Mrs T_M - I sympathise. I have really suffered with eczema flare ups this pregnancy to the extent that the dr has prescribed steroid cream as the itching was preventing me sleeping! Seems to have cleared a little now but I am so careful about trying new bath stuff etc.

Just come back from my repeat 20 week scan - all is fine! She managed to get the heart measurements this time and couldn't see any holes :) Legs and head are measuring at 22 weeks + 1 day so a few days ahead of where I am now - so I am happy :)
