I was like what? he said you've got a proper bump! iv never noticed it until now! it's our baby in there! getting all mushy haha. maybe I look a bit bigger than I thought
my OH commented earlier that as we look at ourselves constantly, we don't maybe see changes as much as others do. I've just seen my parents for the first time since Christmas Day and they thoughtmy bump had grown massively in the last fortnight!
Not felt anything in there yetthought I know that it happens earlier for some than others. There was a couple of twinges today which I thought might have been baby moving about but couldn't be sure. Thankfully my doppler lets me know he/she is having a disco in there regardless of whether I can feel it yet or not. Mind you I have got extra padding that baby has to get through :rotfl:

I thought I felt some little kicks today - it was like those muscle twitches that you get in your eye, but irregular like tapping. Exciting - I hope they come back:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Lara is your back feeling better? Good news about the kicks, it must be baby's way of saying "hey, I'm ok in here!"
Sunshine what a neat bump you have, you look lovely
Robots its nice to see that you're feeling alot more comfortable now, does it feel like you can relax and feel excited now?
I am planning a very pink weekend to give me a crash course in baby girls! My friend has a one year old girl and she's going to show me how to change and bathe her properly, and she's promised I can do all the pooey nappies pmsl! So much more used to the idea of a girl now, I think a whole day with a little one will really help me get to grips with the basic care needs, and all those cuddles cant hurt either!
Oh nd Aqua, are there any aquanatal classes near you? That could help you keepactive without being too heavy going for you. Do you have one of those cahirs on wheels? I sometimes shimmy over to the printer on mine so I don't have to walk to the printer :rotfl:0 -
Hi all I've not really felt much so far, since the initial slight popping/tapping feeling i felt I've not felt much, have felt the same thing a couple of times but it's pretty hard to tell whether it's just indigestion or wind!!
My hips are killing me at the moment, can't sleep properly at all, spend all night turning from one side to the other. Have just started antenatal yoga classes so I'm hoping they will help.
Hope you're all ok, cllola good luck for your scan on Friday xxxOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Thank you! How did you find the yoga?
I have just started the same class i did with my previous pregnancy. It's very much focussed on the whole process, physically and emotionally preparing for childbirth and theres a a couple of sessions that the birth partners can attend to learn shiatsu techniques which is really good. I think i will take more out of it this time as i know what labour feels like etc, plus we are planning a homebirth so i need as much preparation for a 'natural' labour as possible.
Last night we also learnt about the 'sympathetic relationship between the mouth and the vagina'(yes we giggled too) and watched a video about how to massage the perineum from 34 weeks!
Re hips your yoga teacher will be able to teach you some positions to help. I have the same thing, it feels like my hips are burning...It's really weird. I have started sitting on an exercise ball in the evening instead of the sofa, apparently that takes alll the pressure off your hips, also heat and a hip massage helps.0 -
Haha, yes me too Alias - yesterday was a brief lull in the usual indigestion
Sorry your hips are still bad. Is the yoga good? Hope it will help ease the pain a bit. I've got the first pilates class today - slightly dreading it!
Thanks Mary, I had period type cramps in my tummy and back last night, but better today. I'm hoping it's my uterus growing as my belly has popped out a bit this week. Nice that you're having a pink weekend:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
cllola and Lara44 yes I'm finding the yoga very good, have only been for 2 sessions so far and I didn't really know what to expect but it's very calming. They have done some work on the yoga ball and I do have one at home, must start sitting on that in the evenings as lazing on the bed watching tv probably doesn't help!
cllola you're brave with the homebirth - I'm already starting to panic about wanting the birth suite and that meaning I only get gas and air...I think knowing I would be giving birth at home might be one step too far for me!! I can totally see how it has it's benefits though. Maybe with our second
The place I do yoga with doesn't sound as comprehensive as yours cllola, but they do have a 'birthlight workshop' nearer the birth which you and your partner can go to, it's 4 hours I think, and it covers quite a lot of useful stuff so I've been told. We are definitely going to book onto that. My OH is really good already with the massages and stuff, but I might tell him to do less foot rubs and more hip massage from now on!
I am getting concerned really that we've not signed up to anything else (i.e. NCT classes) but it's just SO expensive! With buying a house currently it's really difficult to justify the expense but I think we will just have to bite the bullet and do it!
21 weeks + 4 days today!
One quick random question whilst I think of it - did anyone get told at their 20 week scan estimated baby birth weight, etc? We didn't, but I've since been told by several people that apparently they are supposed to tell you this at the scan? Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Re home birth - it really isnt a decision i have taken lightly, my previous birth was as medicalised as you can possible get with the exception of an emergency C section. I really feel my labour slowed down because i was in hospital, on a drip therefore couldnt move and therefore was quite stressed. I don't want that this time, i want to know that i can go into labour and just trust my body to do what it is designed to do, after all giving birth is not a medical procedure, it's the most natural thing in the world.
I wouldnt have even dreamt of it for my first but knowing what to expect changes your whole view point IMO.
MSA - can you look into the free or cheaper things like classes at a surestart centre/NHS antenatal classes. Netmums do local mums meet ups regularly and i think there is a 'meet a mum' type notice board.
From what i've heard the NCT classes are great for info but you can get that info anywhere. the main attraction is the group of friends you make in the same situation as you. I might be wrong though..I have never done the NCT thing due to cost!
Re scan - just remembering from my previous pregnancy - mine was written on the print out they put in your notes. Not sure we were told anything like that, if we were i wasnt listening!0 -
Ahh no I just discovered I was given the wrong info and pregnant people are excluded from all exercise classes
I'm all sports bra-ed up and nowhere to go! The only option was chair based yoga for OAPs which is booked up :rotfl:. The non-council antenatal yoga ones are £10.00 a class here which is a bit of a spend with me not working atm. Nice to hear some reviews though.
Did you have the option of NHS antenatal classes Alias? We have gone with them over NCT due to cost.
It's nice to hear about your homebirth plans Cllola. I was thinking about it but asked for a referral to the midwife led unit in the end. Transfer rates to hospital are high for first timers, I think you must know so much more second time around about the experience, and your body too. I hope it's a relaxed and straightforward process for you, it must be a great comfort to be in familiar surroundings.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Lara44 - how rubbish...I hope you manage to find something to put your sports bra to use! £10 for 1 yoga class is crazy!!0
