Robots what a bargain!
I've been to the car boot today and got the fisher price rainforest cot mobile for a fiver!
Went a couple of stalls down and there was a little Lamaze dolly and a boxed Thunderbirds Tracy Island set and I nearly didn't ask about the thunderbird set as I thought it was bound to be a lot seeing as it's a collectors item but did anyway and the guy said "err, £2?"
I nearly burst out laughing as I was so suprised but just said ok yeah I'll take it, how much is the doll? Then he just chucked the doll in for free!
Then if all that wasn't bargainous enough I got a disney store big dumbo toy with the tags that smells like Wonder perfume for a£1!
I'm so thrilled! The mobile is about £50 new alone, the dumbo has an £18 tag on it and the thunderbirds set must be worth loads! :T0 -
Those are some great finds mary! :T:T
I haven't been to a car boot in ages, as I was finding a bit too much lovely fabric my stash was getting bigger than my sewing time allowed for. But I'll have to see if they are on round here yet.
I sat last night and sorted out spreadsheets for our income / regular expenditure and budgets for things like groceries. I use the spreadsheets from the Frugal Living Challenge (in debt free wannabe). I only have student debt and mortgage but have found that challenge so useful over the years.
So last nights weird dream was us having to move house due to not being able to afford where we live now. That was depressing. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
If theres one near you definitely start going again they're full of baby bits, the woman I got the mobile from had a pliko prammette travel system for a£25!
I got a little bathroom cabinet for £2 today and a hello kitty ballpond for a£1, can't beat a good bootsale bargain lol!0 -

Tbh thats how I feel about most stuff. Someone gave me a baby bath but Ive gone and bought a specific one I want anyway so Ill give theres to charity later on. Ive also been given some clothing - half of which I will keep and half will go to charity.
If you regret your purchase you could always ebay it.
I just feel like Ive gone through a fair bit to have this baby - who still isnt here yet of courseand part of it is going round the shops and picking out nice new stuff. There is only one occasion in my entire life that will happen as if we are lucky enough to have a second baby clearly that things will be reused.
Im still looking for bargains and sales etc, and there are a few things Im happy to get off selling sites if its stuff Im not sure about or someone is selling something new, but other than that Im buying it myself new!0 -

that's exactly how I feel. iv already decided to put it back on eBay after bursting into tears at my OH saying ' I really want it to be brand new out of the packaging for our brand new baby!' and other ridiculous things. stupid hormones haha! he's not even bothered he was just like we'll buy it new then! it was me in the first place who arranged collecting it off eBay etc ha. just glad we managed to get it from my town (only 15 minutes away) rather than driving miles for it.
ahh I know it's a bit silly but never mind!0 -

You feel like that now, but how will you feel 2 months after owning a new one that's become scuffed and scratched? Will you feel annoyed that you paid full price when you could have got it cheaper? I don't know the answer but I do know there's some things i'll get new and some I'll force myself to get second hand as it costs too much to get everything new and it doesn't stay in new condition for long.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Yeah my DH doesn't mind either he's got used to the boxes of baby stuff arriving and doesn't even ask what's in them anymore lol! He's actually bad for encouraging me!
Some things I don't mind like my SIL is giving Us a travel cot, that I'll be really grateful for and we've bought 2 second hand car seat bases, but certain other bits I want to buy myself.0 -

Its not stupid, you feel how you feel and if you're not happy with it sell it on get one you like, no point being unhappy. To be extra mse you could put it on facebook selling groups/gumtree/preloved as ebay has loads of fees.
I dont mind second hand stuff generally but it depends what it is, for example I wouldn't buy a second hand car seat as the covers can get grubby and theres no way to know if its been in accident.0 -

I'd feel exactly the same... in fact I was watching a few on eBay but then decided to unwatch them as I know what I'm like at the mo.. I blame pregnancy hormones, but if it means we get what we want so be it :rotfl:
AFM, quiet day sewing today, 18 weeks exactly.. midwife this week x0
