  • I'm a little worried today, for the past week or so I have been feeling flutters ocasionally. Last night I had a arguement with my soon to be ex, and he really upset me (one of the things he said was the only good thing about me was that I used to be able to drink) His alcohol problem has got progressively worse since I got pregnant and am unable to drink with him ( I'm no alcoholic by the way but I did enjoy a wine or three on occasion) The other night I went to bed at 11:50pm (a very late night for me) and he said he was going to the pub then because he'd be bored. Anyway, after that I asked him to leave. Then last night I had that nasty call from him, got myself into a bit of a state and now not felt any of the flutters. I'm trying to tell myself that I wasn't feeling anything regular, there was no pattern to them as yet, but its playing on my mind.

Sorry, I do know that a lot of you have much worse problems, it just feels a bit better 'telling' somebody.

I've never heard of moidering before.

I've heard of mithering but can't say I've ever used it.

I'm from the south & I'm one of my best friends is northern & I'm always teasing her about her 'funny words' :)

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time at the moment, I hope it is resolved in the way you want soon. Re movements, it may just because you are distracted by other pressing matters that you aren't feeling anything, I'm 18+4 too and I tend to only feel movements when I am sat down and fully relaxed, if I have other things to do or think about I don't feel a thing.

If you are really worried though don't hesitate to call your community midwives.

Thank you, it probably is because I'm not fully relaxed, even when I am lying down trying to relax my mind is elsewhere. I will have a warm bath later, they always seem to relax me a bit :)
  • cheeseaddict, I hope you are okay. I agree with clolla, I am 18+3 and tend to feel the flutters when I am relaxed and sitting or lying down, if I am busy or distracted I don't. If you are worried give your MW a call.

Cheeseaddict, try having a really cold drink and lying down on your left side. You will probably feel some movements then, but give your midwife a ring if you're worried. These babies like to scare us!

Re sickness... I am on my third pregnancy and have had hyperemesis each time. It's got worse with each pregnancy so this is likely to be my last one. I am now 24+1 and still very nauseous although not as sick as I was (except for last night when I was violently ill, but I think that might be a bug as my husband is also ill). With my son I was sick up to and including labour, but it went away immediately after the birth. I am on strong medication to control the sickness (ondansetron and cyclizine) and they are helping, although not taking the sickness away completely.

Re mithering... I'm from Manchester (you'd never guess with my username...) although I no longer live there. I use mithering all the time, but not moithering (although I've heard of it) :)

  • Has anyone else been put off meat?

I can't stand the thought of eating beef, pork or lamb :(

All of which I usually love! My roast dinner consists of mountains of vegetables :)

    Yes Jen!

It's made it really hard to hide over Xmas with all these roast dinners about, I just casually chuck it on to OH's plate when I think nobody is watching!

However, I have just devoured three packets of smoky bacon crisps and would quite happily have another one!

Me too on the meat! I keep joking that the baby must be a vegetarian to which DH insists it can't be his child!! He's a meat and cheese addict and would live on the stuff and nothing else if I let him!
  • Glad i'm not alone on that one hehehe!

I have a new love for satsumas at least :)
