There's a clinic near me that does gender scans for only £48, if you have a Saturday appointment. TEMPTED!!
  • Welcome Mrs_T_M!!!

Been a pretty quiet day for me today and not much to report on the baby front. Apart from feeling a little bump in my tummy once or twice a day. It tends to be when I am sat quiet watching tv at the moment.

Thankfully my dad popped over today to finish laying the laminate in the living/dining room so now all that needs is the trims and edging (once I been and purchased some that is). It looks so much better now! Whilst dad my laying the last of the flooring I decorated the Christmas tree. Still got the other decorations to put up but they will have to wait until tomorrow.

Been looking on eBay for some maternity shorts as we are looking at going to Lanzarote in January. Thats if everything goes to plan.

Does anyone know whether I need a note from the doctor to say I can fly? Ill be 24 weeks by that point.

Lots of kicking going on in here today.
Had a midwife appointment yesterday, heard heartbeat again, all went well but I need to go for a glucose tolerance test.. which in itself is fine BUT... you have to fast ... I get dizzy and sick if I don't eat in the morning and it's going to be about 12noon before I can eat.... that's from 10pm the previous night. Arghhh!!!

I don't think you do VickyVics - but it might be worth checking with the airline what their cut off is.

What is the glucose test for con1888?

  • I had a "glucose tolerance test" last time - it's for gestational diabetes. You fast overnight, then drink a glass of liquid sugar, and have blood tests every hour for 2-3 hours to see how your body copes with sugar overload.

I had one because the midwife sent me for a growth scan, and they said the baby was too big - estimated at 11lb. In fact, he was born at full term weighing 8lb, so it was a complete waste of time and energy (-:
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

my bmi was high and in the early days my sugar levels were dipping a lot so i'm in the 'at risk' of gestational diabetes group.

Hopefully I don't have it as I love chocolate haha !
  • Hi all!! Kynthia thanks so much for your house advice, really useful, OH and I have got 3 viewings now for Saturday but we are a little disappointed as the one we really like when my OH phoned up to book the viewing they booked it but mentioned it was actually above a pub - not mentioned on the online advert!! We are still going to view it though.

I've got my 16 week midwife appointment appointment tomorrow, a little disappointed as OH told me today he can no longer come with me due to someone at work being off due to a family emergency tomorrow so I have to go on my own now :( I'm sure it will be ok but I just don't like going to these things without him in case something has gone wrong :( Blah!

Hope everyone else is doing ok today. I've been feeling very stressed the last couple of days :(

Don't worry, I don't think partners usually come to normal midwife appointments. All they do is dip test your urine, measure your blood pressure, maybe listen to the heartbeat (or that might be too early I your area) and ask how you're doing. You'll be out in 10 mins. It's a good chance to have any questions answered but there isn't really anything to 'go wrong'. I chatted about my severe indigestion and got told I could make a GP appointment for a prescription of ranitidine.

I've got my 28 week appointment tomorrow too. :)

Feel free to PM me if you have house buying questions, as I've seen over 40 houses the past 18 months as well as bought a property before and researched mortgages. There's also the house buying, renting & selling plus the mortgages & endowments forums on thus site.

Just be aware with the doppler about worrying... I found baby's heartbeat straight away the first night but tonight have not and it's sent my worry into overdrive!!

PS I see lots of people talk about a 16 week midwife appointment, I had my booking in at 11 weeks and now don't go back until 18 weeks?

My '16 week' appointment was at 18 weeks too, they were too busy at 16 weeks as I left it too late to book it.
