  • Welcome sophiasmum and lovely to see you graduating :)

Jen_1985_04 that's lovely that you got to hear the heartbeat :) I just assumed at the 16 week scan they did the heartbeat as standard wherever you are? Maybe I had better ring mine and ask in advance now so I don't end up being disappointed!

I am having a mixed day today. I got into work this morning, already feeling like poop (hip is still killing me, have had a constant headache for several days, feeling nauseous and ended up throwing up in the bedroom this morning, and to top it all off I'm now coming down with a cold) and several things then happened at work within the space of 2 hours to literally send me over the edge.

One thing led to another and I ended up having a bit of a breakdown. My boss got in, took one look at me, and sent me straight home. I had to pull over a couple of times on the drive home because I couldn't stop crying :(

Anyway I got home still crying and a letter from the hospital had arrived, it was the results from my 12 week downs screening and it came back as negative/lowest risk with a 1 in 22,000 chance of downs. So that did cheer me up a lot, and I called OH straight away and he was so relieved and happy, and just getting to hear his voice calmed me down a lot too.

So apart from the letter, today is pretty much a write off. In bed now and gonna try and get some sleep and hope I don't wake up until tomorrow....:(

    Hey ladies,

Hope everyone is doing ok. Seems like I've made top of the scan list - yay! Had some big movements yesterday that I could feel on the outside so just need to time it right for hubby now to feel them too. Looking forward to the scan next week (firmly a team yellow though) and looking forward to being half way on Monday.

I our area last time round (2011), you had to sign a form to say you wanted to know the baby's gender and basically sign it to say that you understood that it can't be 100% accurate. Not had a form this time, so nto sure if they still exist, we won't need one anyway but thought I'd mention it...... :)

Started a list of what we need to buy for the baby (DS is almost 2). The list is still quite big so I need to scouting out some bargains and spread the cost a bit over the next few months. Things are already looking a bit tight next year..... eek.

We're struggling a bit on names, but I think that's better than just liking everything, lol. We have a couple of possibles but nothing that really stands out yet. Ideally we'd like 3 of each on our short list but generally we don't much like a lot of the modern names around - if you grew up with someone called a name, it's probably more our kind of thing......it's a little challenging!

  • sorry to hear that mysecret :( Hope things get better this afternoon for you!

I thought it was standard too, she said she wouldn't write it in my notes that we listened to it as she isn't supposed to try.

Now just got to wait until the 16th Dec :)

You'd think the nhs would just have the same rules for everywhere wouldn't you but seems nope it's a postcode lottery for just about everything!

Mine wanted to listen at 9 weeks but I wouldn't let her! At 16 weeks she was the one convincing me lol!

Debs yes mine felt twitchy at first,

MSA - oh dear hope you feel more cheery later.

Twig pig, we like traditional names too. We've picked ours now.

Another scan-another date! This time I was brought forward by a day. I find all this changing date very strange considering that this is an ICSI pregnancy, but hey ho, I'll just do what I'm told. I am a wee bit worried now that wee bean is growing at a ridiculous rate!

Good news on the letter - surprised you had to wait, though? After the scan and the blood test, OH and I were told to go for a cuppa and come back in an hour for the complete results.

    Hope tomorrow's a better day <hug>

  • Sorry to hear you've had a bad day my secret. I remember having a day just like that several weeks back. Had a complete meltdown in the office and had one of those horrid crying fits where you just can't stop, can't speak and have snot running down your face! Mortified!! Sometimes these pregnancy emotions are crazy!!!

I was back into work today. Felt better for getting out of the house so hopefully that's the worst of it over! Not that I had a great day in work (it's so stressful in that place right now) but somehow I just felt that it beat staring at these four walls!! Managed to get through the day without even so much as a hot water bottle too!!

Mrs happy I asked the midwife about the dating thing, as I know my conception date and I know it's 6 days out compared to lmp but the baby was only 3 out at the scan & I was like omg why is it big!. She said that just like babies, foetuses can have growth spurts, so although I was 3 days ahead of my ovulation date growth wise at the 12 week scan, she said I could have very well come back in say a weeks time and the baby would have been back to 6 days out because the growth could have slowed.

Hence why my hospital only change your due date if the dating scan is 7-10 days or more out as changing it by a day or so is rather pointless!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Mrshappy I had trigger injection to ovulate so I know the day I ovulate. Same as Claire said really, baby was measuring over my dates at 12 week scan but then right by my dates at 20 week scan :) x
First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/14 :D
  • I knew throughout my pregnancy with Isaac that the supposed conception date was wrong - it was in the middle of a 5 day period when OH was away!

<no jokes required about the milkman....>

But they wouldn't change it on that basis.
