The lady said to us 'are we finding out the gender or avoiding it?'
She told us right near the end after checking everything was ok, to be honest the gender was the last thing on mind I felt like I was holding my breath on each measurement she took before saying it looked ok. Then she just went 'it's a girl!'
They didn't ask me at all but it said in my notes from last visit with midwife that I didn't want to know so perhaps read that as they did ask if anything had changed since that appointment.
I was the same holding my breath, especially as when they were taking the measurements I couldn't see the screen so was staring at the ceiling just hoping all was okay. They told me in order of how they were looking eg, looked at brain then told me it looked good, then heart, the rest and back was the last as baby wasn't in good position for that to begin with.
She just kept saying 'babys back, babys heart, ' etc. so no clues at all.
Out of everyone I know though only two people have said they think it will be a girl, one is my OH and the other a work friend, everyone else including myself thinks a boy and I reckon I will genuinely be shocked if it's a girl lol!!
I'm beginning to get really excited now and trying to get everything together, not bought as such yet as want to wait til Christmas is over but know what I need and what i'm buying0 -
My scan's sorted too. Baby hadn't moved from the position it was in last time (must be comfy!), so it was another battle to try and get the measurements that were missing but the sonographer persevered for half an hour and finally managed it.
Also got confirmation that we're definitely having a little girlMortgage when started: £330,995

Congrats on the successful scans guys!! Can't wait to hear what sex the baby is, Eiteews! Congrats on the girl news, LannieDuck!
We will definitely be finding out the sex of baby....we will be better prepared that way seeing as it's our first, but if we are lucky enough to be able to have another we will probably leave the 2nd as a surpriseOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -
Argh I am slightly jealous of you all who know, makes it much easier buying things!!
I've so far bought one white snowsuit thingy. I want to buy more though but can't see any nice neutral things I like.0 -
So emotional reading these posts about people finding out the sex
I have a midwife appointment on Thursday (16 weeks) - not really sure what this entails, prob more blood tests and urine lol. I'm hoping I get to hear baby's heartbeat0 -
At the moment Im in the 'I want to find out' campWhen we told our families over the weekend my cousin said its much nicer having the suprise at the end but I think I'd crack up completely if I didnt know! Also cant wait until 13th January so considering having a private scanWhats the earliest you can find out? 16 weeks sounds familiar? x x0

Wow, so many posts! I was on the fence about finding out but my OH said last night that he was finding out even if I wasn't so that kind of sealed the deal really.
She asked us at the beginning and checked with OH that we were in agreement, she then said it would be the last thing she looked for as the measurements were most important. In the end it was a moot point as all was well and truly on display as she was going down through to do the measurements. Legs wide open - exhibitionist
You may have guessed from the above that we're team blue.
The heart measurement took at least 8 attempts because he was bouncing all over the place. She got another sonographer in at this point because she said her eyes were going funny from trying. By which point he had gone to sleep face on and was still. Picture is pretty lame for the same reason - couldn't get him to shift after that.
My favourite bit was the view of the nose, lips and chin during the checks - really made it seem real for some reason
Hopefully will sleep better tonight!Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

16/17 weeks is the earliest I think, we had a private scan to find out as bf's mum wanted to know quicker haha. we were going to find out anyway but she decided she couldn't wait and bought us the scan! :rotfl:
Beginning to get very annoyed at my placenta - because its anterior (at the front) it means I can only feel things when baby gets in to very specific positions and I want to feel more! I'm sure I will n just a few weeks as the midwife and sonographer have said but still....I want to feel it now and want bf to be able to feel it************************************
