  • Right, back from docs. I've got to do urine and blood tests to rule out anything kidney, liver or gall bladder related. He did seem to think it was purely something mechanical or muscular but just exacerbated a million times more by pregnancy. If it is that and is not improved in a week, he said I might need to be referred for physio. I'm signed off til next Monday. Can't really afford it but I guess mine and the baby's health is the most important thing right now xx
  • Oh Gawd now I feel depressed, I'm 13 weeks + 1 day today and was hoping this constant sickness would start to subside any day now....:( I am really suffering. Since my anti-sickness pills ran out early last week I'm back to vomiting pretty much constantly all day and night, including whilst driving to and from work :( The worst thing is I was granted a temporary parking space at work a few months ago due to health problems and it's due to run out in just over a weeks time. I don't know how I will cope with vomiting on the bus every day :(

Honestly, the standard thing is that sickness subsides at 13-15 weeks at the latest. In having it all the way through, I kept being told how unusual it was. So don't assume you'll get it, it's not the norm.

I hope it does go soon, but I'm not holding my breath - with my first, it lasted until 40 + 4, the day Isaac was born

It's not quite as bad this time as it was with him - touch wood. I've not needed to go on a drip, yet.

I narrowly avoided having a drip, the pills saved me! Which I was grateful for as bad enough being ill at home.

chelseablue - was wondering when you'd join me :D Welcome!

squ1rrel5 - hope you manage to get it checked out and it's nothing too serious :(

Re: holiday allowances I've not checked mine out properly yet, I know our leave year runs from Start March - End April and we can usually only carry over 8 days, apart from in exceptional circumstances. As I will be due to go off mid May, I might see if I can be cheeky and ask to carry over more than 8 days (if I've got that many left!) to March 2014, so I can go off a bit earlier but not eat into my maternity!

However I don't know what then happens with my new allowance I will receive in March 2014 - I will be coming back after that leave year ends so I need to find out if, like others, I have to take it or if I can carry some over and possibly take at the end of my maternity (thus giving me more time with baby)

    It's a bit of a minefield!

Can you ask for some more pills? Vomiting all day is no fun I know!
  • Claire16c I could ask for more, I just didn't really want to have to go on a third course of them if I didn't need to, though if this carries on for another day or two I think I will have to :(

Neverdespairgirl thanks for the reassurance :) I am really hoping it starts to get a bit better over the next few days.

Chelseablue woop woop!! That's great - I think we brought each other good luck last scan :D

Squ1rrel glad to hear your doc has been cautious and signed you off - sounds as though it's a pain but it's definitely best for baby I should think.....hope you are feeling better soon!

Went to Costco tonight and brought a 2kg tub of Haribo Fangtastics......I will not eat them all at once I will not eat them all at once I will not eat them all at once......

Edit - oops I meant Tangfastics.....lol baby brain!!
Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Can I ask what the name of the sickness tablets are?

I'm going to my docs tomorrow to ask if they can give me something, 21 weeks now and it is coming in waves.. i'm missing too much work which is causing anxiety so it's a vicious circle.
  • Last time I was on something called metachlopromide (I don't 100% guarantee the spelling of that).

It's not a magic cure - for me, it reduced vomiting from about 12 times a day to once or twice a day, but that made a real difference to how I felt.

Thanks, even if they can help a little to get me up and out of bed on the sicky days would be an improvement. I say this as I lie in the bath at midnight as I've been in bed all day long :(
