Hi ladies
Been awol for a whole now - just busy at work and still so tired - thought that was meant to pass by now?!
Just had a quick catch up and nice to see so many 20 week scans went well. We cant decide if we will find out the sex or not - I change my mind on a daily basis at the moment! What made everyone else decide what to do?
On that note - I have just tried to add my scan date to the list but when I do I lose everyone's colours and I cant put them back - would someone mind adding my scan date of 2nd Dec next to my name ? Thank you x0 -
Hi Vickyvics I reckon if you see a good offer you should go for it! Me and my OH went to two nearly new baby sales yesterday and today and we ended up only spending £60 but we have worked out that we probably got over £300 worth of stuff for that! And it was all either practically new or brand new.
We did go a bit overboard but we are going to plan to go to 2 sales a month and that way we can spread the cost outso I don't think it's ever too early to start buying!
On your other point I think we acknowledged right from when we found out we were expecting that there was no way we would be able to buy everything brand new. We are planing to buy a house early next year so that has to be our first priority for baby's sake. We are buying a couple of first outfits brand new, the pram will be brand new (as a present from OH's parents) and the car seat as well as the mattresses for the Moses basket and crib (and the obvious nappies, dummy's, bottles), but literally EVERYTHING else is being brought second hand from nearly new sales, or is coming as a hand me down from my best friend who's daughter (my god daughter) will be over a year when ours is born, so doesn't need much of her baby stuff anymore.
To be honest though, when you go to these nearly new sales, the mums and dads take such good care of the stuff that 90% of it is either brand new or in pristine condition - you wouldn't even know the difference!
13 weeks today!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -

I judged on how I have felt in the past when friends/family have been expecting, personally I found it wayy more exciting waiting to find out if it was a boy/girl on it's birth day. So opted not to find out at scan. Also one of my sister in laws has two kids and she found out the sex for one but not for the other and says she wouldn't find out if she were to have more as she herself preffered not knowing.
I've convinced myself we are having a boy though !!!0 -
My question is what are your intentions in terms of buying baby stuff. When do you intend/did you start looking? Are you buying all second hand? Are there certain things you will only buy brand new?
We aren't going to buy much stuff, because we've got most of it from when our son was a baby.
There is absolutely no point in shelling out massive wads of cash on new sparkly stuff - I've never met a baby who cared what it was wearing, so long as it was warm and comfortable, and certainly never one who criticised its pram for being last year's colours!
When I was pregnant with Isaac (he's now 8) my mother came round one week end with the stuff she'd stashed from when we (I'm the eldest of 4) were babies, including a moses basket, cot, blankets, cot sheets, and a lot of baby clothes. We then worked out what else we'd need, including a new mattress, and then bought that.
It's lovely looking at pictures of my son as a baby, wearing something that there's also a picture of me, or my sisters or brother, wearing at the same age. For example, this picture of him wearing a cardigan that my great-grandmother knitted for me when my mother was pregnant in 1978:
Or this when he was wearing dungarees my mother made for me (it was the 1970s, so girls could wear them OK?)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
A warm welcome to all the new ladies
In terms of buying things... So far we've bought 3 outfits and 3 blankets on clearance plus an Angelcare baby monitor (biggest reduction since Jan on Amazon). Nothing has been close to full price. Now my mum on the other hand has 3 carrier bags full of things she's bought already. Trying to point her in time right direction because she can't be reigned in
Scan is tomorrow... my colleague's scan is today. Just want to get through it now.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Day 2 of agonising back pain. Hardly had any sleep as just can't get into a comfortable position. Going to try and get a doctors appt today as starting to worry. I can still feel baby moving but worried in case it's not just muscle pain and something much more sinister.0

Hope you get on okay, i'm sure you will but best to have it checked like you say. Baby perhaps sitting on a nerve? I had an odd numb sensation in my right thigh for a few days last week, was like a dead leg and when I mentioned it my MW said likely baby sitting on something, it disappeared over the weekend.
I'm having a day off work today, haven't had much sleep and feeling lightheaded and been sick a few times, last few times I have felt this way i've ended up fainting when out and about so i'm going to play it safe and have a day in bed, brought laptop to bed and I will just pass the day maybe watching a film or something. Sometimes feel guilty taking time off when i'm not 'proper' ill but if I risk going out, driving, then faint or take a turn then I could end up a lot worse off so better safe than sorry I guess!
On another note, was at my grans yesterday and she has knitted me 3 cardis so far... I absolutely LOVED them, one is blue and a really nice knit, the other is white with glitter type thread through it, one is a light green with yellow and after that she is starting a pink one. It makes me sad that I wont be able to use pink AND blue as both will be very cute but I just cannot wait til I can put one on baba0 -

Of course you can use both!
Isaac wore plenty of pink stuff as a baby, after all, the Victorians used pink as the colour for boys and blue for girls, and babies don't mind either way....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Hope it's ok squirrel and you just pulled a muscle.0
