I was paying a whopping £29.99 for this. I just called AOL and said that I was a loyal customer and wanted a better deal. They offered me £17.99 plus free weekend and evening calls. I didn't take this up. When I called back they offered me £24.99!!! This was an hour later. I threatened to leave and they came up with the £9.99 deal. I'm pretty pleased with my 10 minute call!!:j
did they ask or explain to you about LLU bundling ?

i have been told that i cannot have the £9.99 deal because i do not live in an LLu area , so best i have been offered is £17.99 for 8MB and free calls .

Did they make you take the AOL Talk (phone call) package with this?. I'm still paying £14.99 for the 1MB service and am out of contract so am getting ready to do some haggling.

they didnt make me but ive taken that because that was free! ;)

Platinum "up to 8mb" @ £9.99 is only for LLU now / later customers.
Platinum "up to 8mb" @ £17.99 is LLU never customers.

Either way, AOL Talk is compulsory.

Dellfanatic - if you PM me you screenname I'll have a look in to your speed issue.

I do not have a broadband conection, but am thinking of changing from dialup. How should I go about getting this sort of discount as a possible new customer?

I changed last year sometime from dialup and got a £9.99 silver deal (no router), 12 month contract I think

Ive been with AOL for a few years. One year with Gold broadband, and my platinum at £29.99 a month has two months left.

I just asked when my contract runs out as i want to move to Sky and save £20 a month, and they just said 1st November, and no deals offered!!

I cant win at anything, not even the bank charges. Soooooooo annoying!!!!!

I signed up to their £14.99 silver package with a free router last year. When I rang AOL to try to cancel, she first offered me a free 'top of the range router worth over £100' plus free anti-virus, free anti-phishing etc. to get me to stay. I then said that I was happy with my existing router and everything else and just wonder if she can do anything on the monthly price. In the end, we agreed that she is going to suspend payment for one month 'as a goodwill gesture' without entering into a new contract for me to consider my options.

She said that she could not doing anything on the price but I was going to ask her for a MAC so that I can switch to Eclipse Internet Evolution Broadband Option 1 for £14.99 per month and get one month free. By having payment suspended for one month, I have achieved the same result without switching.

She's having you on. AOL send only the Netgear DG834G, or (if stocks of that fall low), the Thomson Speedtouch 585.

Glad you got sorted on you payments though. :)

This number doesn't seem to work any more - does anyone have a current free/ 01 number?
    Thanks
