9 year old girl sharing bed with dad

Options
What do all your wise people think about this, someone I know is divorced, he has his daughter to stay over at his house, but, she shares a bed with him - I don't think this is right, but, when I mentioned it to him he just laughed at me, what do you all think?

  • Its his daughter?

Totally fine in my opinion, would your opinion be if they were still married and the daughter got in bed with them both? Or what if she shares the bed with her mother? Is that wrong too?

    Nothing wrong with that...

Single dad may have only a 1 bedroom flat. He won't be entitled to any benefits for a larger home.

The girl once she gets older will ask to sleep on the sofa herself.

Why not? Would you think her sharing a bed with her mother was "not right"?

Actually some people do think sharing a bed with a parent isnt right. Ive known kids who share a bed with their mum at 7 or 8 and the concern from friends wasnt that anything inappropriate was going on, more that the child was still so attached to her mum at that age that she couldnt sleep in her own bed for one night and that the mum wasnt doing anything to discourage this.

    Not the case here though

    No I know its not

But possibly the dad might be better getting a sofa bed for the girl to discourage people who want to tattle about it.

And thats a bit sad, but you never know who might find out and want to try and cause trouble.

apart from the fact they both probably get less sleep then 'usual' it doesn't seem sinister.

If it were 7 nights a week It would be more detrimental to both of their sleep, and I would think that was a bad idea, but as an occasional thing it doesn't seem too strange.

  • It's a 2 bed roomed house, so there is no need to share. What age do you think it's not alright?
  • what a daft thread....

next dads wont even be able to go shopping with their kids....incase anything was "going on"

    society today just annoys me.

My daughter is 9 and it's a huge treat for her to get to share the bed with me on occasion when OH is away. I'm female and would have no problem with OH co-sleeping with her if the need ever arose.

I assume she's happy with the situation, is it that she misses Dad and just wants to be close by him?
  • Why is it not right? How ridiculous
