The October Awakening!

abundant1972 - thanks for 'The slight edge' - that's an interesting concept to adapt to all areas of life.
Fmess - if I had my way I would go in to hibernation when the clocks go back at the end of this month (I would have a shower, wash and dry my hair, have a lovely meal then go to bed wearing my fleecey onesie), then emerge just before Christmas, when it is the shortest day and the days gradually get lighter. Sad I know - but that is how the darker days make me feel!
Re having the heating on - I have not put mine on yet, and I try to last until November (I am in Devon and it is usually warmer down here), but if it is really cold then I will put it on.
Anyhow, I have racked up SFD number 5 today and hoping for a few more this week.
I had packed lunch for work, and chicken casserole out of the freezer for tea. I have already made tomorrow's packed lunch and taken something (possibly lamb casserole) out of the freezer for tomorrow's tea.
Hoping (but I wouldn't hold my breath) for a session at the gym tomorrow before work, but must motivate myself.
Oh and I have just remembered - I found out today that I have been offered an allotment (a half plot), at a place which is really close to me. I will accept it, and am really excited about being able to grow my own veg.
Until tomorrow - hope everyone has a good Thursday.0 -
Hello all!
Spend day here today, had to get top ups for the OH's lunchbox and there was a great offer on cheese whilst I was there so £7.71 spent. It's been so long since I spent on a weekday that it almost physically hurt me to do it!
Lol NSK, I have gone the other way, and carry my lunch to work in a bright pink cool bag that says 'lunch' on it in massive letters. I am trying to be loud and proud! It is hard though, and I feel like I am brazening it out when there is impromptu bacon butty runs and fish and chip office lunches.. I worry that people think I am being unsociable. I find that I am getting ok with saying to people that we are 'watching the pennies'.
Re hibernation, Superdopsa, that sounds lovely! but I think I would enjoy the lovely Autumn colours and the build up to Xmas, then curl up at new year in blanket until the daffodils start to come up! It's January to March that really really depresses me. I am already thinking this is going to be the hardest time of year with money saving as we usually have a holiday round then to help me beat the blues and the cold... need to think of something else to get me through it for 2014 and 2015... although Daisychain1, you do remind me to be very very grateful for what we have...
thanks folks! xLBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Thank you Daisychain1 that has really put my grumpy mood into perspective! I am very lucky to have everyone and everything that I have. No more being grumpy!
I do agree Superdopsa that a hibernation in a onesie would be ideal at the time of year. It would also help prolong the time until we need to put the heating onI'm holding out atm, it is cold this evening but just put an extra layer on

Updated my sig, sfd number 4 in the bag.
Caffeine/milk free day number 3 and my headache is worse than ever!!
Going to pop out and get some herbal fruity teas when im next at a supermarket, i enjoy them, and wont miss milk like i would if i just bought decaff. Also im a chocaholic so being off milk has meant no chocolate for me, i honestly dont know how im surviving it!!
On the subject of heating, ive pressed the hour button 3 times,so far. wouldnt have usually but having a newborn i was worried about him getting cold (which it wasnt really!) Our house is only 2 years old so its well insulated which is good.
Nothing else exciting happening here.....
Well done everyone else on your excellent achievementsxxx
Still here..... but working on that!0 -

Re packed lunched, at least half the people in my dept bring their own, it's totally normal here and they contain usually nicer stuff than whats on sale in the canteen.
Re heating, occasionally we have ours on (set to 19C) for 2hrs at night like today when the living room was just 16C and outside it dropped well below 10.
After being on this thread for a year a finally realised i ignored the beauty budget rule, as i always put it into the HH budget. But i never spend more than £3 a month on either value tootpaste, deo or shower gel anyway.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Oh dear fyggy, not the best of days! I've booked my interview with them for end of next month but am debating if its going to be worth all the expense as I got screwed over for the Olympics.
No heating on for me yet, my flat seems to be pretty toasty and a couple of my heaters don't work anyway! My key is my electric blanket, amazing and soooooo worth it!
SFD number 3 for me, I'm catching up to LSD!
I can't remember what else I was going to type, im sure it wasn't that exciting. Night everyone!0 -
Poor fyggy, what a nightmare.
I totally agree bout this time of year. I could hibernate too, skip Christmas and wake up in Spring. Perfect.
Had to have heating on tonight as my Mum comes for her tea and stays to watch a bit of TV.
She's a skinny minny and weighs about 7 stone so she feels the cold even though she wears half her wardrobe.
Another NSD for me and I'm getting into this now. I think I might become a right tightwad and won't want to spend anything if I manage with what I've got.
Here's my update

Fyggy, what about natural dyes, blackberries are in season. Sorry to hear about the job, that would drive me nuts not getting it, even more annoying would be having to wait 7 hours for feedback. Why did your boss even tell you when she did?
So I'm toting up my SFDs and realised I haven't spent any money since Friday 4th, so I have had 5 SFD in a row! I won't be spending any money until Friday so that should be 6 in a row by the end of tomorrow.
I may deduct the £32.99 for my coat from my food shopping budget and pay it towards my CC, that would leave me with enough to do a £3 off £30 food shop and £7 for bits and bobs.
I had my heating on for about 2 hours then switched it back off as it got too hot, I put my fan heater on in short bursts.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140
