Right, dilemma.
Party invitation ....really don't want to go.....we barely speak to them.
Don't go. Make an excuse. Don't know about the rest of you but I am done with attending things I have no wish to spend money on for the sake of someone I don't like.....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. HM if is this money already accrued through transactions last month and accumulated over the months prior to The October Awakening that may have already have been mentioned in other posts as money gained - then no... if its a brand new only-in-October gain then yes...;-)
LAGL - don't blame you - worth a shot in asking though...lol!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Honestly how much does dental floss cost. Why not just have two razors and sharpen them. The mind boggles.

I watched her episode on youtube the other day, if she wasn't so carzy some of her tips would be useful. She also dumpster dives for her food, but I've seen people do it in a way that makes me think about it (if I ever had the desperate need) but hers way of presenting etc the food is revolting. Also she does it just for the sake of saving money with no purpose like paying debt or saving for sth.
Sorry just have to type sth longer than 10 characters as I replied in the quote :rotfl:DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hey all - quick question. Went to T3sco late last night for cough medicine and cough sweets for hub, stocked up on YS bargains while I was there. Did I still get a SFD?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
Hi, please count me. I have been lurking since the beginning of the month.
- You will aim for 20 SFD I am going to stop carrying money around as when I do it usually ends up in the tills of the corner shop, and then lying in a spare tyre around my waist…! L
- Pay off debt first. My main debt is my overdraft, it’s £1000, so by spending less I will cut this down. I am sick of spending what isn’t my money every month. I want to just live on what I have earnt. I also have £400 left of my travel pass to pay off. This is my annual pass to get me too and from work. I don’t drive so the pass (£450) is my only travelling costs for the year. Cue looks disbelief from Londoners who probably have to pay that in a month to commute…
- You will create a spreadsheet and budget EVERYTHING. Does anyone have a good Excel spreadsheet that adds things up? I used to have one years ago which I used religiously and it kept me on track but that was in a past job and I forgot to save it to a memory stick when I left.
- Get a small spend diary to keep in your bag DONE J
- Set your food budget now then reduce it by £20. My budget is just for me. I have plenty of rice, pasta etc in the cupboards and a few tins to get me started. Hoping my main buys this month will only be fruit and veg. I am a vegetarian and want to eat better so I sleep better and feel healthier. Losing a few pounds around the waist wouldn’t go amiss too! A detox for my body and for my purse! I am giving up booze for stoptober. I don’t drink that much but it all adds up. I am budgeting £65 for food for the month and I think that is do-able.
- Clear out your cupboards of food before buying more. I haven’t got that much in but somehow have lots of bags of different pasta in the cupboard when I don’t eat much of it anyway! Well, it is going to be eaten now! J
- Out of your allowance £3 of food will be donated to the local food bank. Done!
- Budget for outings, I have a day in London planned, all transport and my show ticket has been paid for so I am going to bring my butties and aim for a NDS. I have a free Starbucks voucher so that will be my treat when I am there. Everywhere I am going is walkable so no tubes required. Hurray! I also have a football match and a possible meal out (I know… I know….) which are going to be my “outing treats” of the month. I also have a Halloween party in my house for the kids in the family every year and have so many decorations etc already the costs are very low so will budget £20 for this. I have 80 Euros which need to be changed to pounds and that will cover all of the above so, technically, it is not going to make my bank balance go down.
- No eating out, This is where I normally fall down due to laziness and pure greed. I will stop bringing money and my debit card in so I have no other choice!
- Bring your lunch to work everyday. Am really going to try hard with this one. We don’t have a canteen at work, just a pretty dingy and unhealthy caf! across the road, and THREE Greggs shops within walking distance. No healthy options!
- Choose a DFD - a Debt Free Date! I am aiming for the end of the financial year, so debt free by April 1st 2014.
- Use up all your beauty products BEFORE getting any more. No problems here, I have a box full! Just toothpaste and soap will be needed this month. I will put a budget of £5 down.
