Hi All
Missed posting update yesterday as ended up working late so pretty much crashed out when I got home. Sadly extra time at work does not equal extra money as I am a nurse!
Feeling a little frustrated as yesterday was not a SFD again, however the beginning of the month is often spendy and then it settles and having the thought and aim of SFD is a good focus.
OH bought bus pass as we found out will be cheaper than paying each day and hopefully lead to SFD.
Also had some good news-- OH has been provisionally offered a promotion:T:j So we were a bit naughty and had a celabratory take out..but DD offered to pay for half of it.
Also sold another book on Amazon:T So I reckopn I have made a profit now of about £40
So a bit of a mixed day yesterday but aiming for a SFD today.
Will check in later.:)Make £10 a day Jan £0/£3100 -

Chop ups those cards lol!! Agree with Cottage, make sure you write down card number and sig stripe number and number for card (lot easier to get through telephone options). Then your emergency fund could be if you really need too, phone up and get a new card? It takes a while and gives you time to think do I really need it. I bet you wouldn't spend if it wasn't so easy xDebt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -

Morning OAers
Strandedinaber- My DH looks an amazing red lentil curry with ours. I can't cook at all and I'm not sure of the receipe, but I enjoy eating it!
Fmess- I have too struggled with cutting up the cards so instead I have frozen mine. But perhaps as someone else has suggested keep just one and chop the others?
Samjangi- Oooohh, is it easy to sell books on Amazon? Does it work like eB.ay and you set your p&p etc? That's the thing that worries me about selling books, the p&p will be so high as they're so heavy! But I have ones I want to sell.
As for me, day off from main job today. An appointment with my 2nd job in an hours time which will see some money come in, phew! I need to fill up the car- planned and budgeted. Also going to check the tyre pressure and this will be done at Sainies as it's free. I shan't let a 20p air compressor ruin a potential SFD! Hah. Considering going to DM and washing my car there (she has a hose pipe). In the past I'd have paid a fiver and gone to my local hand car wash. However, today actually won't be a SFD as I am doing our 10 daily [read: weekly] shop.Debt at LBM June 2013- £31,300

Well this month has started far better than last month already! I have caught a NSD early. So I'm 1 NSD now. Hopefully today will follow suit, I see no reason why it shouldn't.[STRIKE]DFD 22/7/14[/STRIKE]

Morning Chickadees...
May I quickly persuade people not to re-post the entire rules as this takes up a lot of space on the thread (says she with a montrous message)... When you put your names down I expect you are accepting all the rules and don't need to indicate which ones etc.. especially as I placed that requirement in red at the end of the first post... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Although I don't mind up to now but if we can desist it would be great...
I had breakfast with my team this morning - £4.70  (although this is the only "outing" I have for the month planned)...#saddo.......and since it was a spend day I bough two energy drinks (35p each) and will be doing my food shop today as well. I am pretty much out of everything - even pasta - and needs to get "snacks" style ingrediants to make my own cakes and stuff as there is lull at work that needs filling with treats... lol!
New job starts on Monday - still don't know what I will be doing..
Sorry - no more comment about sexy boss and my boobs..:rotfl: (although Mr Cobes is MIA at the moment - fainted??)..However I have taken to giving sexy boss the once over every morning (its called a katscan..:p) and advised him a few times of his choice of tie vs colour of trousers. He has duly changed his tie twice this week (navy tie with multicoloured spots wih black pinstripe trousers = no-no)... this morning he just said "why don't you make a list of what you would like me to wear then"... I'm afraid some mental images flashed before my eyes that would've made him blush however there was a smirk on his face.. teehee.....shame he's married though...#naughtyboy
I am intrigued about these bad comments you are all getting - perhaps there are some on the forum with a holier-than-thou attitude and like to stamp on people when they are down - but there are trolls who are looking for those down on there luck in order to poke them a bit... just uncalled for really.... glad you all feel at home here.. you know I will take my whip to anyone who picks on any of you right??... just tell me who they are..
Fyggy - Amazon do "trade-in" on your books whether you bought them on Amazon or not. If you sell them on Amazon you have to wait until someone somewhere decices you have the best price - trade in gives you a credit to spend on Amazon and last year I made around £100 returning all my books. One was 25p, another was £14.. you just never know. However they have to be in good condition or they will send them back to you - and best of all postage of any sort is free!!!
I am hating eBay at the moment though too... just too much hassle..
Fmess - cut the cards up. I have one though as there are some things I need it for.. but it's ALWAYS paid off at the beginning of the month... get rid of the "holiday card" and stop thinking about it - your next holiday will all be in cash anyway...:p.. the second one is not needed yet as you said yourself you are not at a point where it is needed.... concentrate on getting rid of the last one THEN considering a new one that does all of the above ... take the chance... cut the strings and live life on the edge...
Samjangi - how did you sell your book.. actual sale or trade-in..? Well done on the OH's job... Although I would suggest waiting for the confirmation before celebrating and spending pennies... ahem.... but I will let you off this once...lol!
Strandedinaber... I understand where you are coming from regarding food and late finishing shifts. I had toast for "dinner" last night... The rule is mainly for those stock piling for Armaggeddeon.. with freezers full of expensive meat etc or the room to bulk freeze home made soup and not using the facility.. I don't expect you to drink your condiments (yet) in order to get to the bare bones of your cupboards but just to be more sensible in what you are buying.... sorry I shoulda explained it a little better...:o
Right.. .I gotta work.... more soon Chickadees - everyone is doing so well so far.... (I have pasta and salad for lunch by the way... the last of my cupboard fun)...
Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
That's what I want to say but according to DH that's not acceptable
I said that DS will be too tired at that time and he said why? He is working anyway so doesn't have to put up with a grouchy child.
Decided DC will be poorly that day.
Whatever white lie works I guessso you don't have to go to sth you don't want to
Advice please;
Would you cut any if these up?
Agree, cut them up! Or keep one frozen in case you need to book flights and need the added security for booking?strandedinaber wrote: »(On a related note, anyone got any suggestions on what to do with a bag of split peas?)
MMhhh... split pea and ham soup, my thought too. Or check those recipes
I cancelled my OD at the start of September as I'm not paying £6 for just going £10 into my apparently £500 limit. However, just got charged another £6 as their billing period obviously goes back 2 months  (double checked in branch). SFD today hopefully.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Just edited my post as I wrote too much and went against the 'rules' by writing out the rules again with all of my aims. Sorry!
Will keep it brief and let you know that I am very much on track for achieving most of the challenges set.
That's it for me. Hope you all have a good month!0 -
Wow, I wrote an essay!0
