Whats the deal when I get my letter? When should I get it? can I leave now or in Jan as I have read conflicting info.
Once you receive your letter or email you have 10 days to inform BT that you want to cancel.

    The number to call is: 0800 707 6031 or 0800 587 7216

    See here.

Just stealth increases. 50p looks ok until you factor in the 1571/CD

As somebody said early, there's no real competition, as they follow like sheep.
Only sign-up deals (and maybe cash-back) makes telephony companies potentially cheaper in the first place.

You could always call BT free on 0800 707 6031 or 0800 587 7216 - they can't avoid that. :rotfl:

I really cannot understand why those with BT don't simply open an account with 18185 and pay only 5p connection and 0p/minute for off-plan (i.e. non-inclusive) 01/02/03 calls of unlimited duration.
Same here,I'm signed up to 1899 and 18185 and save myself and the family a fortune.

That may well change from next year when BT no longer has to allow access. You may find yourself having to use the 0808 number with its usually higher charges.

If the customer has line rental saver the minimum call requirement of 2 calls a month for line rental saver customers ended a few months ago.

NO it hasn't . This is from my last bill dated 17 sept.
Line Rental Saver. You've paid your line rental in one annual payment, making it easy for you and saving you money.

Regarding the "two calls" requirement, which is soon going to be a thing of the past anyway. This has always been a requirement to make two calls via the BT phone service that are either chargeable or included in the particular package you have. I have had line rental with BT for many years, and over that time had line rental saver, inclusive evening calls at no extra cost, free caller display, etc. I rarely make any chargeable calls, but have always made the requirement through inclusive calls. In the past, the T&Cs did just say "chargeable" calls, but in reality they counted inclusive ones. The wording changed quite a few years ago anyway.

The reason for the "two calls" requirement has always been to catch people who pay line rental to BT, but route all their calls via another provider, either by carrier pre-selection, or by dialling a prefix such as 18185. Despite how people may feel about BT, it wasn't intended to fleece customers who genuinely make their calls via BT but happen to make them all within their package. Perhaps the reason that the "two calls" requirement is being removed is becasue BT are planning to block the alternate providers anyway following the change in the rules.
