Has anyone successfully managed to cancel both BB and line rental if only their line rental is going up? I'm not particularly happy with the service i've had from BT thus far, and would love to be able to move if the option was there.0

Where are people going for their landline then?
I was told that I would need to get my line transferred to another provider as oppose to just cancelling, otherwise it would require an engineer to come out to setup the new line again.
They did say that once they receive the request from the third party, that I wouldn't face any early termination charges.0 -

A number of us are going over to Sky, but on a special free broadband and tv package, because we have been O2 phone and /or broadband customers.
I have been told , by BT, that there will be no termination charge or 30 days' line rental to pay, after notice. New provider Sky made the contact with BT.0 -
Is there anyone apart from me, yet to receive an email or letter from BT detailing the price changes. The article written on 27th September says we would be informed next week, so that would imply by 5th October? This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Tharweb, I hadn't received the email yet either, but I still phoned up and cancelled on Thursday.0

Once you receive your letter or email you have 10 days to inform BT that you want to cancel.
The number to call is: 0800 707 6031 or 0800 587 7216

I got my email on Thursday and think I want to move. How long do I have to move once I've informed BT (within 10 days) that I wish to cancel? Will they give me a MAC code when I call?
I've paid up front for my line rental until end of November, so I'm not in too much of a rush to move. It takes about 3 weeks to transfer line and broadband anyway doesn't it? I think I plan to move to PlusNet (BT but cheaper and with better customer service)0 -
I agreed to join Sky last Sunday, but their payment system was down, so was called back on Monday. By that evening I had confirmation of the move from BT, so called them to check things. meanwhile I was told that I'd have my Sky tv installed this Thursday and the phone line and broadband the following Tuesday, so within 16 days.0
