If I opt out of renewing and cancel the CD &1571 is it possible to just pay for line rental on a monthly basis rather than a yearly contract and obviously any calls if I make any....all i can see are inclusive packages which I dont want or need.
No.
Monthly line rental is currently £15.45 and includes weekend calls, whether you need/want them or not!
You need to cancel your evening calls to get as near as you can to your requirement with BT.0 -
Since when? They had to be chargeable. I am on the default Weekends only Plan.
No.
You just need to make 2 calls a month if you pay monthly bills, or 6 a quarter if you pay quarterly, which is (was!) useful if you take long hols.
These can be either "chargeable" calls that go on your bill, or "complimentary" ones (ie calls to numbers included in any package you have).0 -
No. You just need to make 2 calls a month.
These can be "free" ones (to freephone numbers), or "complimentary" ones (ie calls to numbers included in any package you have).
News to me. Now BT have changed the wording on my bill to add the inclusive option which wasn't there originally. The Bt definition of a chargeable call isn't the obvious one.The minimum call commitment has not been met. Make 2 or more chargeable or
inclusive calls per month to avoid future charges.

About 4 weeks ago I received a letter from BT telling me to register before November ?? if I wanted to retain my free eve and wkd calls before my contract ends in Jan - any idea where I can read that again, unfortunately lost it.
That letter and the latest one about the price hike said I could terminate my contract without any penalty charges - is there a catch such as the loss of the remainder of my LRS subscription ? ( Oct - Jan)0 -
Yes, LRS is non refundable.0

Looking at my BT profile. According to that I do not have privacy with caller display but I do actually have caller display and I am signed up to TPS. So I think I can sign up for privacy with caller display and get it free (with a new 12 month contract) for 1 year with no call requirement from January ?
edit: Just reading the link from Quentin's earlier post which says the free option is only available to existing privacy with caller display customers and not those with other varieties of caller display.
I am still considering the jump to TalkTalk (with £50.50 TCB until tomorrow) but am still a bit wary of leaping into the unknown. Would lose one month of LRS but will be recouped almost immediately0 -
As you suggest "free" , or "sort of" free currently as long as you make two chargeable calls per month , if not you still pay for caller display til Jan when the new pricing kicks in.
If the customer has line rental saver the minimum call requirement of 2 calls a month for line rental saver customers ended a few months ago.0 -

The BT rep who comes to MSE to answer queries repeated that if unhappy with the price rises we can leave "without penalty".
Your specific question has been asked in this thread, (as it would be a big penalty if rental paid in advance was forfeited, and as it stands it would as it is non refundable - catch 22!):
BT rep, please give information

But as yet it remains unanswered!0 -
My service is dreadful want to go to virgin. I know I should receive a letter and have phoned them but they say anytime now.
Whats the deal when I get my letter? When should I get it? can I leave now or in Jan as I have read conflicting info.
