Thanks danmanchester. I had heard that you had to receive the "personal" email before you could ask to leave.
Were you still in a contract? If so, I will ring them tomorrow. I want to move to Plusnet if possible and TopCashBack deal ending tomorrow.This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! :doh:

Yes I was still in contract. I just thought I'd give it a go as I was getting impatient waiting for the email too. I've gone to Plusnet too0

I'm impatient too! Which number did you ring, if you don't mind me asking, the one for a MAC or another? TopCashBack are offering £70.70 if you switch to Plusnet before Monday, that's why I'm so impatientThis site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! :doh:

Well I thought I'd bite the bullet. I just phoned BT using the number to request a MAC and explained that I understood from the information given here that my Infinity charges were increasing and therefore I could leave my contract early. The guy said that was incorrect, the standard line charges were increasing, but not Infinity charges. I told him that this conflicted with what the link was telling me, but he assured me that was incorrect.
What are they playing at? :mad:This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! :doh:

Phone back again and see what they say when you speak to a different person.
If that doesn't work email the CEO.0 -
I have been using the 18866 prefix number to get calls for just 5p per call regardless of time etc. I am with BT getting free evening and weekend calls and received the letter from BT saying unless I renewed my contract for a year I would be charged £3.50 per month for this service. Thinking I could still use my 18866 prefix I phoned and agreed, however on my new contract it states quite clearly "Your plan EXCLUDES calls to indirect access numbers " so I am very miffed. Jem 16 says in reply to Andysdad--"You may have to use ---the O8O8 number--" Can you tell me what this is please ?
Also my contract letter was dated 8th October and I was given the option to cancel in 7 days from the date of the letter, since I only received the letter on 12th October, it does not leave me long to change to anyone else !0 -
You need to tell them now you are cancelling.
You don't have to be with your new supplier within the 10 days.0 -

This is the first time I have actually seen this written in a BT contract and very worrying if that's indeed where they are going in light of the announcement that BT will no longer have to provide access to indirect access numbers.Jem 16 says in reply to Andysdad--"You may have to use ---the O8O8 number--" Can you tell me what this is please ?
The 0808 number is the Freephone access via those providers who will not allow the short code ( such as 18866 ) to be used. As it's a Freephone number you shouldn't be charged by BT but using this number usually means a higher per minute call charge with 18866 - not always the case but mostly. For example it would be 1p per minute for UK calls plus the 5p connection charge.
See here;

As Quentin says cancel now if that's what you want. As long as the notice is in, you don't actually have to have moved by then.0 -
