I find it hard to believe that a company like ASDA hasn't got someone else who knows how to burn a CD! Even if the instructions have to be given over the phone to someone on site, it shouldn't have to wait until the 25th, especially as the police are involved.

Its hardly ever a case of 'just' burning a cd, the procedure to do it is usually really annoying and you have to navigate it with a remote control half the time.

I'm the only person out of six in my office that can navigate ours, none of the others would dare even try because its so easy to mess up and wipe footage instead of copying it.

My company will only release CCTV on reciept of a written request from the police (we get requests fairly often as one of our cameras overlooks a main road).

Considering ASDA only had the misfortune of being situated next to the cash machine, they've been very helpful in even agreeing to supply footage at all!

The OP does realise cash machines usually have their own integrated CCTV? Has she contacted the cash point's bank?
  • It was the self service till inside Asda, not a cashpoint.
  • OP I can completely understand your frustration but blaming Asda for what has gone on isn't productive - in fact you need to keep them on side and willing to assist you further to get you the best chance of the resolve you want.

Report the situation to the police and the bank, then wait until they have their employee return from holiday and explain the situation rationally and non-emotionally. Don't get annoyed and angry at the staff no matter how much you feel their customer service isn't up to scratch. This is not the time to get anyone's backs up.

I've lost several purses over the years and left money in places that were untraceable and it makes me sick to the stomach when it happens, but honestly your recent run of bad luck is only magnifying your upset and frustration.

I hope that one way or another you are able to get some peace of mind from this event, I really do.
Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.

Why on earth should I be grateful?! They could show me the CCTV - this is a small Lancashire town and we're all 2 degrees removed, in one way or another.

I want to a least have a chance at getting it back, or at least making someone sorry for taking it. Why should they just be allowed to get away with it, when there is a chance (however small) of it being returned.

I swear I will never enter another ASDA store again, theyre customer service has been dreadful.

    The mind boggles.

This is exactly what I said to the ASDA women. Surely they think about things happening such as holidays / sickness / this individual leaving the company.

I suggested asking for instructions over the phone from a nearby store. She said I was "one of two or three people a week who do this" and they "can't go to all that trouble each time".

The policewomen was quite withering about it too when I spoke to her "apparently NO-ONE ELSE can manage to operate the CCTV to download the disc... " So I'm guessing she deals with CCTV related stuff on a regular basis and has an opinion on it too.
That happened to somebody I knew and they returned to the store 10 minutes later, but the store wouldn't help at all. At least you're getting somewhere.

I do think they put all the slots all over the place in an annoying way though. Press this over here.... poke things in somewhere else.... receipts coming out somewhere else ... and your money's out of sight in another slot when you're feeling under pressure to grab the bags and leave.

Exactly Pastures New. I was struggling with putting things through as it was and they bully you to go through the self-service to the point of actually refusing to serve you and having twisty screens. Its pathetic and I've complained about it in this store before and they were rude then. I will definitely go elsewhere in future.

Unfortunately, the BIB in the OP's post is a phrase which is commonly used in a threatening or intimidating way.

Commonly used maybe but read the rest of the post and you will see I am p!ssed off and frustrated, not violent and out for retribution. Apart from anything else, you have obviously never been to many small Lancashire towns ... even rottweilers hang out in packs here.

I have given back money and items i have found and if shopkeepers forget to charge me i always tell them. I'm a muslim so its important for me to do the right thing! I take solace in knowing that when something like this happens it is meant to be and I was meant to lose that money. Maybe something like that exists in your religion? Try looking for another job and tbh ofcourse the landlady will charge you rent, someone has to pay it at the end of the day. Oh and if you're skint then why are you going out 'tonight'?!!

Yes, and if you get distracted by someone pushing past you, or an employee chatting to you and taking the basket - BINGO! - you are £20 down.:(

OP, the fact is that you forgot to pick up the cash which you had requested. And now it is gone.

Yes, it's sh1te when that happens.

Most people accept that, have a grumble, and move on.

Yet, here you are - blaming Asda, blaming the staff you have spoken to, blaming the police, ranting at anyone on this thread who doesn't completely agree with you.

In itself, that could just be a blip. A reaction to the fact that you have lost money, which has put you in a difficult situation.

The trouble is, you have also listed lots of other sh1te which - from your perspective - has happened to you recently.

When I look at your reaction to this issue, and this thread, that affects my view of your perspective on any other 'sh1te' which you see happening to you.

    Judgemental ?

It's my first time at a free creative writing group run by a local lady. We are meeting in community cafe, cost will be 50p for a cup of tea + biscuits.

I need to get out more plus I love reading and have loads of imagination so thought this could be a good outlet.

There is a lot more back story but I can safely say it was unfair re paying rent when I wasn't able to live there. It's just another thing that makes me feel !!!!!! about things.
I'm not religious - I believe in behaving fairly and justly towards others. I know their is a God but I'm not feeling Him at the moment.
