Really angry at myself - please help

I'm on a bit a downward spiral and I've had a really bad run on luck and this is the latest incident.

Last Thursday I was in a massive rush to get home (sh!tty day) and popped to @sda got a fivers worth of groceries and some cash back. Got home and realised I had left my cash in the dispenser - absolutely distraught, complete horror as I really can't afford it. It was money for my bus fares for the next weeks worth of shifts and I had no other money to pay my bus to work so I had to borrow some just to get to work.

Phoned @SDA AT 6 am the following morning and they viewed the CCTV and said it appears that someone following me took the money from the dispensary and advised me to report it to the police if I wanted to have a chance at getting it back. Reported it the same afternoon.

Police have been in store and spoke to the Manager and she has reported back that there is only one person who is on holiday until the 25th who is able to burn the DVD off and until she has been able to get it, she can't further anything.

I've rung the store and after experienced the worlds worst customer service and the short story is that the Manager is adamant that there is nothing she can do but wait for this person's return. In one sentence she says only one person can do it, the next they tried but aren't trained ...

I'm convinced that waiting for another week could mean that I can guarantee to not get the money returned, albeit it was a small chance in the first place.

I want to complain like hell as I'm sure they must be able to make some arrangements with a nearby store or complete the actions over the phone with someone who does know. I'm even tempted to go on twatter and hope that it gets picked up and maybe they can resolve it afterall.

I'm sat here crying, I've really tried to be as logical and functional as possible this past few months when everything has been !!!!!! but the waves of !!!! are just never ending. I've had another awful day at work and I've got another to deal with tomorrow. I'm supposed to be going out tonight too.

I hate ASDA at the moment!

  • My husband did the same as you and left £20 behind. By the time he go home and called Morrisons it had already gone. Try not to beat yourself up over it, and good luck with getting it sorted out, though I suspect you will be very lucky to get it back x
  • It was your mistake that someone else snatched your money. I don't understand why you are so angry with @sda about something that you did yourself. The machine is on their premises but they are not responsible for it as they don't own it so they have absolutely no obligation to help you.

Losing hard-earned cash when you can ill-afford it is a tragedy but it's one of your own making, alas.
  • I can understand why you feel angry but your anger is misplaced.

From your post it's appears Asda have tried to burn the DVD but can't do it. So I would say that infect they have been helpful and furthermore have said it will be done when the employee that knows how to do it returns from their holiday.

So although it is frustrating for you, you will just have to be patient.
If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me :D

I've returned money to its rightful owner on two separate occasions (not to mention 1 iphone, a credit card and a couple of wallets). Its a pity that what comes around, doesn't go around for me when it comes to nice things.

These things always happen when we least need them. Touch wood Ive not lost anything or left anything behind for ages but I have done in the past and its gutting. These days I check and double check I have everything on me, whether its keys, money, passport, bus ticket. Im skint and I cant afford to be replacing anything

Have a cry, dry your eyes and if you cant sort it out chalk it up to experience and move on. I know its easy to say but it really isnt worth getting upset over, just make sure it doesnt happen again and Im sure you will, these things have a habit of making ourselves check what we are doing

When you are under stress its so easy to forget stuff, Ive had some really awful jobs in the past and when you are in the thick of it all your mind can be on other things so dont be too hard on yourself.
  • Sorry but I think you are just going to have to swallow this one. Very very unlikely to get the money back and Asda are under no obligation to give you it back. It was your own fault, sorry. Was it a large amount?

Ive also done a lot of nice things for people lately, Ive found bus tickets, I phoned an ambulance when someone had a heart attack when driving, but the what goes around comes around universe stuff can be claptrap when you need it

Dont think like that, just be glad you are kind and youd always try and return something to its rightful owner.
  • I'd be grateful they had CCTV and have told you they can see anything on it.

I did this last year with a £20 withdrawal from the cashback till.
I couldn't afford it, but was really mad at myself - I did not blame the supermarket, as I was pretty sure the person after me probably pocketed it.
    Nothing you can do really.

They have one employee who they say can do it, he has gone on holiday, until the 25th.
