I do think they put all the slots all over the place in an annoying way though. Press this over here.... poke things in somewhere else.... receipts coming out somewhere else ... and your money's out of sight in another slot when you're feeling under pressure to grab the bags and leave.0 -
To be honest, that money would probably have been spent in the ten mins it took for the person to walk out of the shop with it
If you do want action taken against the person on camera assuming they can be identified by CCTV, Id be getting back onto the police and asking them to chase up getting the footage.0 -

The police lady has an appointment in store on the 25th. Having spoken to her she seems very surprised / disappointed by their reasoning too ... I do hope she has some influence when it comes to tackling crimes perpetuated against this particular store.0 -
I used to work in a garage and cctv was very much in use.
For starters we were forbidden from ever giving a customer cctv footage. Something about data protection. Also we were only allowed to pass it onto the police. This could have been in the form of a dvd or cd (and one system we had took me months to get my head around) or a still printout.
I hope you have luck, but my experience it will be a miracle if the person is even recognisable0 -

I've had so much !!!!!! in my direction recently but I am really not an awful person - I work in a "caring" job, do "nice" stuff all the time, even on Monday I pointed out that I hadn't paid for a chocolate bar at the garage.
So far being fair, nice and honest has got me a big fat zero.
{{{HUGS}}} You may be skint but you aren't stupid.
Hold your head up and stand proud because despite your all problems, which could have turned you into a nasty, mean-spirited and sneaky individual - you have retained your intrinsic honesty, integrity and decency
FACT: Life is unfair and bad things happen to nice people.
You say that you do "nice stuff all the time" and I know that you are sincere....but you need to be nice to you too ...and stop beating yourself up for making this mistake. To err is human, to forgive is divine
Since you live in a small community, ask the local paper to run a story for you ...with the emphasis that Police are confident that the person who took the money will be easily identified on the CCTV film. . . . it might prompt that person to 'fess up before they are named and shamed!
Good luck and fingers crossed that you get the cash back:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I want to a least have a chance at getting it back, or at least making someone sorry for taking it. Why should they just be allowed to get away with it, when there is a chance (however small) of it being returned.
....The OP hasnt said at all that they plan to intimidate anyone.
Please, we can all disagree but theres no need to say stuff like that to someone who is already clearly upset.
Unfortunately, the BIB in the OP's post is a phrase which is commonly used in a threatening or intimidating way.
More generally, I really don't understand the OP's ire with Asda.
They have told her how to deal with the issue - report it to the police
They are co-operating with the police investigation - they are happy to provide a copy of the CCTV footage, once they have the technical support in place to do so. The police appear to be happy with the agreed timescale.
That is customer service in my book.
It is not 'poor customer service' to refuse to provide CCTV footage to the OP. It's a legal requirement for them to abide by the Data Protection Act. The OP's expectations here are unrealistic and unreasonable.
It is not 'poor customer service' to abide by the timescales which the store has agreed with the police. The OP has reported the matter to the police, who are now dealing with it. If she is unhappy with the timescales the police are using, then she should complain to them. Not the store. Again, her expectations of what Asda should do are unrealistic and unreasonable.
I appreciate that the OP is upset, but ranting about Asda is not going to get the money back. It doesn't even appear to be particularly therapeutic.
Asda are not the correct target for the OP's rage. They just happened to get drawn into this wrangle because the OP was in their store when she forgot to pick up her cash.0 -
coolcait is speaking sense .. It is not asdas fault you left money in thereSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
I'm sorry that you're in the position that you're in but it really isn't Asda's fault.
They can't show you the footage for data protection reasons, the only people they can release it to the police and as far as I can see, they are cooperating to the best of their ability. It's not down to them to go out of their way to help you, you were the one who left the money.
I'm sorry if that seems harsh and I really do sympathise with you, it's just really unfortunate and I hope the person who did take has some form of conscious.
I'm afraid the only thing you can do is wait and see.0 -
I think this is clearly the straw that broke the camels back kind of situation. Think when youve been low and something like this happens, no matter how trivial it might seem to people looking in, well all I can say is I think the OP needs to work on their self esteem, try and deal with the work stuff and forget the people who arent supportive
Much easier said than done, Ive been there, but its like a self fulfilling prophecy and before you know it, you see the low side of everything even when there are parts of your life that are ok.0
