But they are suggesting, like the Welsh Assembly, that the 5p is donated to charity but they can not enforce it.
exactly, but a business can only donate a certain % to charity and they no longer get tax relief for this. I know the plastic bags i have cost me 4.2p and that was when i got 5,000 3 yrs ago ( they are the same grade as the 10p bags for life bags) and i still have about 1,500 left. so no idea what they would cost now, but i can get the tote bags like in iceland at 50p each wholesale

At the moment it is just a suggestion by the government. It would seem daft to have slightly different rules depending on if you are in Wales, Scotland, NI or England.

There are different laws across the countries. What happens in Wales is irrelevant.

This new 5p charge in England is going to go down well with my customers - some of them kick off about being charged 1p as it is!

I'm not personally, but my company do.....I don't know why WH Smith do, but if people can afford to shop there when they can get most of it cheaper elsewhere, then 1p shouldn't affect things too much.

A garage near me has been charging for bags (price dependant on size) for 20 years.

They don't because it doesn't. It's just supermarkets and large stores.

    Do you want to bet?

Come to Wales and if you want a bag for your chips, KFC, McDonalds whatever you pay

I don't mind the charging it just seems a pointless amount! Its not enough to deter and can't bring in much money

The money goes to the Woodland Trust.

You'll be amazed at how many people suddenly find space in their other bags once they realised they will charged.

They are probably 1p as they are terrible quality.
