bag for life?

I purchased 3 jute bags from Tesco's a few months ago and they were sold as "a bag for life". After good use 2 of the bags wore out at the bottom so I returned to Tesco with the bags so that they could be replaced. Customer services agreed that the bags were "bags for life" but would only replace plastic bags that cost 10p. How's that for mis-advertising. Perhaps because I am an OAP they were hoping that I would fall off my perch before the bag wore out, perhaps they meant my life and not the bags life. Customer services did my stress levels no favours and I came away very disillusioned with no bags to carry my shopping in.

If you are getting yourself stressed about something like this, perhaps your grip on the "perch" is indeed slipping.0

This is a vents board so I understand why OP is posting. Really, if they are sold as Bags for Life and someone goes to CS to get them changed, they should change them if they are that bad. Lets bear in mind not everyone is going to go and get them changed but it would be a nice gesture to do so....0

for gods sake its a carrier bag, theres people being killed by their own government in this world, people dying of curable illness, people desperate for work and cant feed their kids, no laws preventing fat women from wearing mini skirts, and you are worried about a bag? you have way too much time on your hands0

Very poor show by Tesco but I would have taken the plastic ones offered as they change them whenever I ask and you wouldn't now have "......no bags to carry my shopping in".0

In fairness you can say this sort rubbish about any consumer complaint. Any consumer complaint would appear trivial compared to your ridiculous list, however that doesn't make the complaint meaningless.0 -
In our Tesco the only bag for life that they sell is the plastic 10p bag, the material ones and hessian bags are not marketed as bags for life.0

You sir, are a fool. There is not a single thing on this site that compares to being murdered or dying in any other way.
Are you suggesting that the entire world stops paying attention to any of its other concerns while more serious suffering is going on? Try to be a bit less of a prune, please.0 -
I wish now that I had not posted here, I certainly did not think I would be ridiculed and verbally abused by some of the posters. To all others I thank you for your understanding, the reason I did not have bags to carry my shopping in was I was not offered the bags free of charge, I was asked to pay 10p per bag and it became a matter of principle so I left my shopping in the shop. I see in todays newspaper that in 2015 we shall all be asked to pay 5p per bag but at least we know what we are getting and it wont be changed on the whim of the store in question.0

As some one else has said the jute bags are not bags for life, the person on the CS desk is obviously confused. The bags for life ,10p, are the plastic ones only.
I wonder if they will continue doing the free replacements when the 5p charge comes in?If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550
