Ashamed to report I fell off (well, actually jumped) the Wagon this weekend: I bought a 10 pack of Saturday afternoon & OH & I smoked them on Sat & Sunday...
To be fair it's cheaper than 1 pint at the pub BUT it means I had to go through the cravings again on Monday!

It's the being ready or nearly ready that is the main thing!

I'm using a proper(expensive) e cig to give up. I remember all your tortures from when I gave up cold turkey. But to be honest, this is so easy I feel a fraud. I'm getting memories of cravings and hunger and withdrawals, but just a vague feeling. Of course I'm still getting nicotine but three weeks in and I've reduced into the medium strength, so hopefully going to reduce further as soon as I've adjusted to this. Just have to make sure I don't stay addicted to the e cig. I know a lot of people who do!0

For the rest of us - well done. It looks like the e-cig is a great help to some people, so may be something others may consider. Think what it is you want to give up - is it nicotine, or nicotine delivered via tobacco cigarettes?0 -

Well done you lot, making the decision to quit (not give up, you're not giving up anything) is the hardest part. The rest follows in time.
I stopped feb 2012 using the Alan Carr book. Easily 40 a day for over 25 years. You all know the benefits of quitting - cough gone, mouth tastes better, money in the bank etc. It's so tough for the first few days. The habit is so engrained that you cannot see how you can fill your days without smoking. You fear to let go.
Just hang in there, it does get better. Much better. Less coughing, wheezing, panting. Your time is your own again and you are in charge of your life. You won't even consider having another one because you don't want to return to that way of life and have to go through quitting all over again.
You're all doing great, you will make it to the end.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I have a biopsy date now, so all is well on that front, and I've got the actual cancer cells retracting (I probably didn't explain this well, but my first language is not English), so I'm happier on that front.
I've not smoked at all today, and in all honesty, on the way to the arena I'm in now (see below), I wasn't tempted by the cigarette that I knew was in the car at all. 1 cigarette in 2 days, feels good!

Day 10 for me and I'm feeling benefits both financially and health wise. Energy levels have slightly increased. I'm saving the money I would have spent on cigarettes.
