I was so annoyed and disappointed that there was not a cig in the house.

When you get to the end of the first week, you'll be elated that you didn't find that cig in the house. That's nasty old Nic O'Teen playing with your mind; I remember the auto pilot thing, forgetting yourself and just reaching for the lighter that wasn't there, even long after first stopping.

Moody, stroppy and angry were my middle names too - it will pass, be strong!

Congratulations Tattycath, that is such a major milestone - one week is such a very long time when you're first giving up the fags. Think of all the money you have saved already and the life you have gained back.

I am sure your friends and family will happily put up with Grumpy, Mardycath for a while, if they're keen on getting a Non-smokycath in return. :T

Sorry guys, I've had a busy weekend.

I'm going to be honest, I've cheated a little, but I have cut from about 40 a day, to about 5 a day at the moment, which seems to have done me a wealth of good.

It's not constantly 'when is the next chance for cigarette' now, but more a case of being in a car, on my own for anything up to 12 hours at one time (I work in Switzerland on Monday and Tuesday, then in London the rest of the week), and it does ease the boredom, although I wish it didn't!
CK, I missed earlier your reference to blood tests. I've recently been there &, as far as I understand it, the five-phial tests are likely to indicate anything untoward. Let us know what further tests are required. I've been there, & I'm clean for cancer.

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year, so the tests were for anaemia, and because I'm on Methotrexate, mainly to check that everything is working roughly as it should (Methotrexate is an immunosuppressant, and whilst mainly used for transplant patients, in my case used to treat Psoriasis). Because I've been on the drug for about 6 of the last 9 years now, I've been asked for a second liver biopsy, to work out whether to keep me on this, or whether to move back to Cyclosporine.

I've responded reasonably well to treatment, so should be fine :)

Hi Harriox welcome, the more the merrier.

I probably sound like a bl**dy wimp because I feel like one, I smoked loads yesterday and this morning. Now got the patch back on and if I last till tonight then I'll know I have it in me to kick that filthy Mr M Light's a55.

    Well done!

I've posted my reasons above, but I'm so proud of you guys, and of myself, for cutting down as much as I have!

I'm going to try next week again!

Morning all, I feel calmer today with my patch on early and am looking forward to a smoke free day.

Toochoosey how are you getting on? Is this your 3rd day?

How is everyone doing so far and how do you cope when you are gagging for one?
