Feeling more positive now - thanks pogg00 for the brain/oxygen connection. Maybe after a month I become Einstein!
To any who have given in today, don't worry. Just take a blip as a blip, you still want to quit, so carry on accordingly -a fag at that particular stage was unavoidable. Doesn't mean you have to quit the challenge unless you choose to.
Each of us is trying this for our own individual reasons. We just need to keep reminding ourselves of those reasons. Thread encourages & cheers us.
By the way, I now absolutely hate tic-tacs (refreshing little lifts my !!!!!) having been chewing them all day. I have also got a mechanical pencil, which provides silent fiddling opportunities.
Best of luck everyone on the journey.0 -
Oh god now thinking about the morning cuppa/ 2 fag time in the morning? If i can just get through that!0

I have *delurked* to pop in and wish you all lots of luck with your endeavours. :T
I gave up on 1 January this year after smoking for 33 years, the last 10 years at around 25 / 30 a day depending on if I was out socialising.
I used the 21mg / 24 hour patches for the first 5 weeks with the additional support of the inhalator and then went down to Step 2 with 14mg for 3 weeks and then just relied on the inhalator for another couple of weeks. I admire anyone that gives up, whatever method you use.
I downloaded the NHS app on my phone and the quitkeeper widget on my laptop. I don't bother much with them now until I pass another milestone although I am constantly reminded of them as I update my signature, something I intend to stop when I hit a year. The feeling you get as you pass another milestone is easily the equivalent of watching your debts go down or your savings going up.
I promise you, it will get easier. As an incentive, I have saved £1868 on cigarettes alone so far and added over 3 weeks to my life.
I hope I don't sound like an ex-smoker as they can quite often be sanctimonious, something I have always tried to avoid.
I will popping in to see how you are all getting on and watching your progress.NSD Challenge 2015: Jan 20 / 20 (2 x 5 in-a-row) / Feb 5 / 12 (4 in-a-row)
Lesson learnt from 2012: I cannot be trusted to credit card stooze!
Barclaycard at 2 / 02 / 2015 [STRIKE]£4,600[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£4540[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£4250[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£4000[/STRIKE] £3250 need to pay it off by 08 / 2015 before mortgage completion
