Hi toochoosey-welcome to the thread where, hopefully we motivate each other. :)
HPoirot-welcome. You can do it. Deciding to quit is the first step. :)
I had to psyche myself up for it and told myself that I would smoke my last cigarette September 30th before I wet to bed and that when I got up the next morning I would not smoke again.
I haven't had a smoke since 30th September 1130pm-ok so I have been irritable and Mardy and eaten more than I would like. But I'm still here and haven't killed anyone yet. Lol!
Thank you Candlewick-that explains it. Could this also be the reason why my abdomen aches? Sort of ribs/lung area. It's only happened since I quit. :(

Its nothing scary, there are loads of people who have done it.

I'm on day 4 now, and really proud of my self.

What reason are you giving up for?

I've got a headache at the moment, so not good.

Fizzy water seems to be dealing with the not smoking issue, no idea why.

Thank you tattycath, I need to put a plan into place and aim for a day, no excuses. Think saturday might be a good day as there would be no routine and I have another day in the meantime to psyche myself up.

Pogg000 I am actually disgusted with how much I smoke and the smell. But seems I am stuck at the moment with zero willpower and actually afraid of giving up.

Thanks for the support tattycath, I'm exactly like Hpoirot..........all good intentions and fall at the first hurdle, BUT I have cut down by half and it is not a major issue that I have none in the house in the evening......... xx

    Evening all x

Miserable 10 hour shift today (and no-one to cover breaks!!!) so I could have quite easily smoked a few since I've been back.

But I managed to distract myself clearing out one of the boys rooms and don't feel too deprived just now.

Stick with it, we are allowed to be mardy, miserable, cake eating beings at the mo ;)

If anyone does slip up, I used to find cleaning my teeth and washing my hands straight after seems to help re-focus the mind. Sort of removing the taste/smell before it becomes comfortable again.

Hope everyone gets on ok tonight. It doesn't matter how many times it takes to stop, just keep trying.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

As for the being scared bit, driving home tonight I nearly went into panic mode thinking I would never "enjoy" smoking again.

A lot of the addiction advice goes along the lines of just thinking that you will not do it for today. Don't think too far ahead, don't worry about tomorrow or the weekend or whatever. Just wake in the morning and decide 'today I am not going to smoke' and tomorrow can sort itself out.

(Sorry if that sounded a bit preachy - just want to take the pressure off x)
