Have you put your heating on yet?

Why do you wait for a date rather than go by the temperature?
Because I have a negative income at the moment and I'm living off a dwindling amount of savings.
Last year I decided to try and last out until mid November, by wearing 2 jumpers etc. Not that comfortable, but not too bad once I got used to it. Temperature did come into it as one evening it was super cold and I said "sod it, time to switch it on".0 -
We have turned it on once to check it actually works (only moved in in June) but other than that, we are hoping we dont need to put it on for a while yet...still got the summer duvet on the bed

Mine won't go on till mid November at the earliest. If this winter's anything like the last few it'll be on all the time, so trying to keep the bills down as much as possible.0

I think we all have varying degrees of what is and isn't cold. However it is a fact that you will feel the cold more if you have your heating set higher as your body becomes accustomed to it. Think how you feel the difference in temperature after you've been abroad to a hot country for 2 weeks.
My heating is not on. It is starting to cool down so the blankets on sofas have made an appearance and the thicker duvet is on the bed.
I have friends who turn their heating on rather than put a jumper or cardigan on. These are also the ones who moan about their £800 fuel bill. Mine isn't that for a year!
We will have the heating on when it gets uncomfortably cold. Certainly never overnight!! What a waste! Probably another month or so£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
We did - but only to dry a ton of washing.
Something we did last year was have thermostatic valves fitted to all our radiators, and we turn off radiators in rooms we don't use much (and keep the system well bled).
I also always try to make sure we let in whatever sun there is to warm the house up greenhouse-style.0 -
Looks like it won't drop to single figures again this week so I'm sure I'll be fine for the time being. My ground floor flat has no cavity wall insulation so I imagine it loses heat quickly - definitely not looking forward to having the heating on, especially without a room thermostat.
The flat did remain cool for a fair amount of time during the 2 or 3 very hot weeks this summer though.0 -
Had to shut the window in the bedroom this morning and have put an extra blanket on the bed and a throw on the sofa so hoping we can avoid putting the heating on until Oct/Nov. Hoping this winter won't be as cold as last year!0

it seems to have got cooler throughout the day today, but im busy sorting things out. hopefully will get a budgeting loan so i can get a new bed (instead of sleeping on the mattress) and invest in more blankets too to keep warm. Doubt we will wait until November as 2 children under 5 here but October is my challence, and not too far away
EDIT: just had to put dryer on for the first time since April as it started raining
bye bye Summer!! 216/2018 (make ££ in 2018)
