can't you ask your current landlord to use your deposit for your last months rent?

They only asked us for £200 deposit and our rent is £560, so doubt we could do that.
  • Just a thought but if your husband doesn't work you could....

You work, whilst hubby cares for little one, then hubby goes to new place to clean... How many hours do you work each week? You could share the child care and cleaning... Hard work but worth it.

I do work and have had the same job for the last 15 years and will be working 37.5 hours when i go back to work after my foot has healed from the surgery i just had in July. So i cant work any more hours than this and would not want to anyway, as im in a very stressful job in an NHS hospital.
  • I dont get FULL HB so how can i do that???

No-one is reading my post at all!!!

The 4 weeks payment on 2 homes will be for the full rent not 4 weeks at your HB rate.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

How do they give you the full rent if you dont get full HB? I dont get it? Would that just be the rent on the social housing that is given in full?

And someone said before you only get it if you are living in the house you are taking up the new tenancy on, is this right?
  • Why did you accept this house if it is so bad, surely you are swapping one lot of problems for another :-(

The first house we saw was 10 times worse than this one!

We have accepted because despite the mess left inside it is perfect for us and we need good neighbours and the drop of £200 in rent that it provides. Also the security of social housing which you do not get in private rentals, we have had to move 6 times in the past 3 years for various reasons beyond our control and it isnt fun.

Trust me I know, but I hope you do get good neighbours. Whatever it takes, whatever it takes, and I say again trust me I do know. Good luck

We have already been told its 2 elderly sisters who need quiet neighbours also so that helped our decision too. We just need the 2 rent thing sorted, everything else will get there in the end.

You have to move into your new home first and you will get full HB at the old address for a maximum of 4 weeks irrespective of the amount of HB you got at your old address.
