The HA have told us they cannot wait for a long period to end our current tenancy as they want someone in the house and paying rent ASAP which is annoying as we have been waiting for them to do their safety checks for 3 weeks and its possibly going to be another 3 weeks before we can sign a tenancy because they have work to do on the house. I may ask once we know what the exact time scale will be.
I'm aware about the bedroom tax but wasnt sure how much they would take off us as we dont get full HB.
The bedroom tax works by reducing the rent used in the calculation by 25% (pretends your rent is only 75% of the figure you are actually charged)
Use http://www.entitledto.co.uk/ to find out what you should get (it factors in bedroom tax for you)
If the budgeting loan is paid now (and you qualify for one of the benefits which allow you to claim) you should be able to apply again.
An alternative would be to look at joining a credit union to give access to credit later http://www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/home0 -

The place is covered in rubbish and has leaks and all kinds, so no way id live there with a 2 year old but thankfully the HA wouldnt allow it anyway.0 -

And thats not the kind of answers i wanted thanks.samwich1979 wrote: »Well we managed to get our contract cancelled early with Virgin Media yesterday(after 3.5 months with no charges!:)) and decided to go back to Sky.
I managed to haggle and eventually got:
Full TV package with movies, sports for £45.37 which is 25% off.
Free HD channels for 12 months.
Free unlimited broadband for 12 months.
Phone for just the line rental for £14.50.
Free HD box and installation.
They didnt want to give us a new box and installation as we last had Sky in February but i talked the sales advisor into getting his manager to authorise it and after 3 attempts they did! Woooo!
Just glad to get away from Virgin Media, just couldnt get used to the TV and how different it and inferior it is to Sky and also rubbish internet speeds and rip off billing methods.

I'm not having a go at you as it seems some people have been brought up to expect they are entitled to money from the tax payers.
Looking back in your previous posts you are complaining that you need dental treatment but have no money and can you get this paid for - then a week later you are posting about a great full tv package deal you now have with Sky. Now you have been given 350 to paint your house and you are still complaining!
I dont want hand outs in particular just wanted to know if anyone knows how to get around the two rents problem, because that is our ONLY problem!0 -

Why? In my first flat I had carpet offcuts on bare floorboards until we could save up for a carpet. For 3 months I had to cook on a camping ring until I could save for a cooker. Have one room carpeted for the 2 year old, you can get used carpet free on freecycle sometimes and clean it.
Nice idea and all but i have no means to clean a used carpet and paying someone to do it kind of defeats the object a bit.
Will be using a microwave until a cooker can be afforded so no problem there.
Just want to know how to solve the 2 rents problem.0 -

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

As someone else has said you could join a credit union and borrow some money- can you do additional hours at work? - could you husband work a few hours? (Do you have family who can look after your child)0 -

Because we can afford the rent (£200 cheaper than our current property)which means i could stop claiming HB and it is suitable to our needs!
We cant cope with the constant moving due to crap private landlords and house and having no security especially with a 2year old and we are currently in a flat with inconsiderate upstairs neighbours who keep us and our son awake half the night.0 -
