  • I hope everything works out this week, however focus on all the good news and how bright the future looks :)
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Hi DFW

What a rollercoaster you are on lately. What a pain with all the little things that are causing a shortfall for next month..

Hope you get your DPS money asap. What can you do to find the shortfall? Extra overtime, sell your soul??;).

Keep smiling hun, things have a way of sorting themselves out. xxxx
  • Next Month's basic SOA:

    Income: £2253

    Outgoings:
    Mortgage: £218
Gas/Elec: £94 (this was supposed to be reduced last month but it never was, so just in case it isn't again this is worst case amount it should be £80..)
    Mobile Insurance: £10.98 (for 2)
    Mobiles: £40 (for mine & DS1)
Money to DH's account to cover his bills: £100 (estimate I will ask him later if he needs less or more- for mobile and life insurance which is quite high because of his job)
    Groceries: £400
    Dog Account (vet bills/food/grooming): £30
Dining out/Take outs: £40 (it's my birthday in February)
    Petrol: £100
Car maintenance & insurance saving fund: £80
Car tax: £50 (£25 extra than usual to cover money borrowed this month)
    V1rgin: £45
    T.V License: £12
Prescription / Dental fund: £15 (usually £30 but have halved as decent amount in there already of around £50)
    DH Pocket Money: £100
    My pocket money: £100
    Charity: £6
Clothing: £100 (already spent by DH so can't cut this months)
    Xmas/ Birthday fund: £90
    Kid's Clubs: £20
    Emergency Fund: £150
    Rental Fund: £60
Life policy fund: £20 (only one left now as other is maturing next month :j)
School Trip:£55 ( Wish I could leave this one till march but is due mid feb!)
    DS1 pocket money:£28
    Total Outgoings=£1964 (rounded up)

So this leaves a potential £289 to be put into the savings account this month. I suppose that that is better than nothing, and nearly half of what I would like to save to be on track.

Can't see anything I might have missed???

It's half term month so I will be working less than usual  but suppose it means I don't lose my mind quite as often as I usually do during the month so I have to look at the bright side of things :rotfl:.

I've even put the car tax into feb's budget so may not need to break into the DPS money if it ever turns up  (I checked on there this morning and it's been 14 days and she's not disputed that I am entitled to the money so hopefully it's a straight forward waiting for the money now?!)

  • Well you have covered all your bills and still have some left over, so thats great. If you needed to pull anymore money in could you do things like ebay and stuff to pull it up?

Yep:T I'm so glad I didn't do what I usually do and flap and cry and worry and then check the spreadsheet to see actual damage. :o. Actually it's not that bad, less for the moving fund but still enough to pay the bills and most savings pots :D

Look on today as a good day after all, you could have panicked about your estimated short fall but instead you did your budget and found the situation isn't as bleak as you thought. You are in a really good place financially for the first time in ages and should be so proud of what you have achieved

I hope the rest of the week goes as well

:) You're right and it's definitely a step forward for me I usually like to panic first then assess :o.
