    a small silver lining :)

    How are you feeling today?

    Indeed it is :T

I'm feeling better than yesterday but i've felt better than today for sure, if that makes sense. I'm still trying to remain upbeat though, there are people in far worse situations and i'm reminded daily on here that my problems are small fish. In fact i'm thankful for everyone sharing their stories on here to actually bring it home to me that I have nothing to worry about really. Usually I would end up totally depressed over something like this, perhaps i'm becoming a little wiser as I get a little older :rotfl:.

  • Well i've just tried the YNAB trial again and I think I am about ready to give up :wall: I just don't get it. I'm really struggling to see where I need to put incomes etc and how it budgets itself as and when it should be coming in. Might try again later but I really am such a dunce when it comes to spreadsheets :o .

Pay day is tomorrow :T Before I get to move it all around though and work out everything I have to sit in a meeting and draw up a contract regarding the neighbours *big sigh*. We live in such close proximity I just don't see how a "you mustn't look at her, talk to her, etc etc" thing is going to work! For a start unless a proper fence is put up the kids are going to want to talk to one another (hers and mine) through the "thing" that is up at the moment posing as a fence. This is all becoming slightly surreal and childish to me, but oh well not much I can do. Will be even more difficult come September because we will be on the same playground 2x a day with each other (at the moment her son is in the nursery playground so we only pass each other). Let's hope by some miracle that we or them have moved .

Money wise I still have £7.50 in my purse :T. £1 in my account :o:rotfl:.

I've reached the following savings goals:
Emergency Fund: £150/150. Total: £950/6000 so far
ISA: £601/600. Total: £3325/15000 (what we'd like eventually)
    Rental fund: £60/60. Total:£585/3000

:T See there is some good news after all :p

    Budgets are looking like this:
    Petrol:65/100
    Groceries:411.97/450

So in on both :T I've no money left this month because every penny I saved went on the £262 "home maintenance/furnishings" category. For which I had budgeted £0.00 :o. OOPS.:rotfl:

  • well you live and learn. I had to do my budgets by going abck to the spending diary to see where the money was going. There was loads I had missed!!

  • Morning DFW

I don't suppose YNAB will suit everyone, the only thing I can suggest is to go to the Support area of their website (Top right) and watch some of the video tutorials. I watched them all before it became clear to me. I do love it and I think it will really keep me on the straight and narrow, but it's not going to be perfect for everyone. So don't beat yourself up if you can't get to grips with it. xxx

That would be fab to move to the Yorkshire area, especially if that's the area you intend to buy. Sounds perfect. What time scales would hubby be looking at before he finds out if he can relocate??.

Fingers Crossed its before September. I don't suppose in the meeting you could request a fence to be erected??. I can image in the summer its going to be really impossible to avoid her and preventing the children playing together...Eeeeeek.

Well done with all your savings pots. Wow you are doing brilliantly. Wish I had savings that big. Keep smiling hun, its all coming together slowly but surely xxx

Hope the meeting goes well tomorrow DFW. Hopefully she will move though, then you can continue happily with your plan. Nothing worse than not getting on with your neighbours xx

  • Well this morning is over thankfully! Contract signed. Let's hope this is the end of it all. They (officials in charge of contracts) have also seen the fence and were on side with me that what they've made is a joke (as well as dangerous!). They are asking them to put a proper one up. If they refuse I'm not sure what can/will happen but it won't look good on their part. Her next door has denied even speaking to my daughter and has got 2 witnesses to say that I went mental for no reason (hmmmmm doubtful so really it means she has people to lie for her!).

DH and I treated ourselves to breakfast out afterwards and walked the dog. I've also sent him out for fish and chips for dinner :o at this rate I will have no takeaway budget left for my birthday!

Good news: DPS have contacted me via email and said the money is definitely on its way :T:j. That will be the shortfall of my monthly savings this month I think as there is no way I could make the £600 otherwise thanks to all the shortfalls everywhere else.

It's payday :j. Spends: £40 on petrol (£60 left). £3 in charity shop on DS2's schools trousers (3 pairs :j), £2 on a book and some spoons in there too. £6 in £stretcher on a box. £12 on breakfast. and I still have the chippy amount to add to today's spends :o. No wonder i'm broke so quick after payday!

Anyway totally stressful week and I'm looking forward to seeing the back of it if honest. I've still got some wine left from the other night so can have a glass of wine tonight as well as chippy ;).

  • Enjoy the weekend, and try to relax.

I might treat myself to pub lunch on Sunday as its pay day today - my first after being out of work since July. Pub that is over 400 years old - in parts, open fires in winter, roast lamb and hot mulled cider. Which probably means I'll end up being a lazy git on the sofa doing nothing. If I actually get out of the office (still here).
