Looking at your posts glad we are just on nodding terms with our neighbours. Why are some people so difficult (polite phrasing!)? As if life isn't hard enough! Words fail me. Hope you're enjoying your weekend despite everything.

  • Hello!

Well I've had an up and down weekend! Yesterday evening/night was awful but won't go into it on here (well just yet anyway still getting my head around it :(- nothing to do with neighbours though), today has been much better. My meditation teacher messaged me asking me to go and see her and spent a good 2 hours talking to me, advising me and just generally being the friend I needed :) so I feel much better now after that.

Spendy weekend too but mostly budgeted for:
£150 on food ( £50 over budget but this was an awful lot of staple items that we'd run out of, i.e flour, salt, sugars, marmite (DD loves this on toast I hate it :rotfl:) so i'm hoping it will even out
£33 on recycling bins for outside (3 of them with stickers so kids know which one to use)
£15 on the chippy we had the other night.

Need to update the spreadsheets as recycling bins weren't budgeted for so need to get the money from somewhere to balance the figures :o. The one bin we do have already is a pain and just the other day finally broke (been on it's way out for months) so had to get a replacement and opted for outside ones to free up space in the kitchen :T so I hope it's a good investment overall

Not much else to report...aside from I seem to have my knitting mojo back. I have knitted 5 squares this last week to go towards my throw :T

  • Thank you lucky :)

Well i've been busy tidying this morning, I hate it when you leave the housework for just one day and everything falls apart! I've hoovered upstairs & down and steam cleaned floors that needed it & put dishwasher on, washing machine on and bread has been cooked. I've run out of energy now and crashed here on my sofa with some knitting and wanted down under :D.

I need to update spreadsheets with spends and bills that have come out. The gas & electricity bill was reduced this month so that's £16 back into the tight budget (or only £16 left to find for those recycling bins now ;)).

DH did the school run today for me so it was nice not to have to go out in the cold. I'm watching this wanted down under thinking, if only......! They all look so warm and I'm frozen right now :rotfl:.

I hope everyone is well and sorry i've not caught up with all your news, I will try to do this once i've finished this knitting that i'm half way through :D

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and buy new things. And recycling bins for outside that allow more space in the kitchen I think is a good thing.

I've had to do similar - you know when you look at clothes, underwear, etc. and think "oh, they're not THAT bad" and then you realise just how old they are. Yep, finally bought some new opaque tights. Some of mine were definitely bought when Sock Shop were still strong on the High Street (just on-line these days). So, they must be at least 10-15 years old, if not older. I got sick of trying to work out which one had the hole in the sole or the run at the top of the thigh, etc. So, that's me set for another few years . . .

Hope the other stuff improves. :)

:rotfl: at the tights! I also have a whole drawer full of tights that are older than two of my children :rotfl:. I refuse to part with them or replace them just yet though ;) so long as the holes are under the boot line or under the skirt I keep them :p. Glad to see i'm not the only one (albeit yours sound in better condition than mine :p)

  • Spreadsheets are updated, I've not got an awful lot in my bank left . I'm still waiting on tax credits, child benefit and my money for looking after the kids yet. So hopefully once everything is paid in it should be enough to pay for food & petrol (bill money is already put aside). I haven't paid into the emergency fund as that was all that was left in my current account . Decided it was best off staying there until I get further into the month. The DPs money is pending for tomorrow and I will transfer most if not all of that over to the isa straight away so that I won't touch it.

I also have to give DH £40 for his rugby kit and there is £34 pending for his rugby boots. Why is there never a month where we don't need anything but the basics. My savings would love a month like that..........!

No, no, no - many of my clothes are NOT in better condition.

I've got these two pairs of knickers from Primani - they look a hideous grey (courtesy of my washing machine that doesn't always get rid of the dirty water). But they're the boy short, no VPL, really easy to wear-type that, guess what - they don't make anymore. So, they're great under trousers. Not so great when you're at the GP's surgery and you realise your mother's warning about 'nice' knickers is about to come into play. They were clean - just grey!

Its really weird, I can throw things out that I've worn to death but if I made a bad buy and haven't 'gotten my money's worth', then they just sit there.

I've got this houndstooth/dogtooth coat that I remember trying on in the changing rooms and going back and forth - do I? don't I? I did, but I shouldn't. It never did suit me - it was the idea of what it would look like on someone else that I liked. So, the few times I've worn it, I feel dowdy and wish I hadn't wasted my money. It should go to charity but it needs dry-cleaning and if I'm paying money for dry-cleaning, then why shouldn't I have the benefit of it? Yes, my usual warped logic.

Another time in the changing room I had something rather frivolous on - and it suited me. All I could hear in my mind was my mother's voice "will you get good use out of it"? Oh, go away mother - you're 15,000 miles from here!

Lol:rotfl: this reminded me of a dogtooth skirt suit I bought in the mid 90s in bright red! Shameful thing being I bought it and wore it to death  I wish I had bought it (or not) and never worn it! :rotfl: and as for your coat take it to the charity shop as it is! They have steam cleaner type things I see them using to clean things I bet they could use that :T p.s I also have a dogtooth coat but I do wear it :) even though its probably not in fashion anymore :p
