Yay to the break in December :) Have you not bought that part for your laptop yet? We'll have to start a "save DFw laptop fund" if you suddenly disappear offline, like a disaster appeal ;)

    Yay to the fence :D

A fence is up! Doesn't look very sturdy but it's holding for now. She's tried to jump over it already and very nearly made it. But I won't be saying anything unless the worst happens. :T (a minor victory still to me!)

    Ah - progress! Hurrah! :T
But pallets? They aren't very tall.. Still, doubtless the structure can be reinforced when Dog works out how to get over it.. :o
Interest has been paid on accounts (all pennies) and moved across to emergency as I've a feeling I'll need it soon ;)

:T It all helps - new carpet fund, eh? ;)
..Any news from Agent or Tenant?
My laptop battery died and it's taken three hours of fiddling with the lead (on and off..trial and error! ) trying to get it to charge! Finally did it so will let it fully charge before moving it.

Oh that is such an annoying fault; worth taking to someone who knows how to fit a replacement connector? Shouldn't be a big job.
Not heard from DH yet seems a long time ago that we last spoke I seem to speak to Vanwuis more often :(

At least you'll not be lost for words when you can finally make contact (((hugs))).
    Umm, who is Vanwuis?
Not been shopping yet so will do tomorrow after my course :) trying to keep spends to a minimum so that any extra next week (end of month) can go to savings. Was also told I'll only be getting 2 weeks money in December for childminding as my friend has booked time off :T I should probably be crying at a loss of Money but I'm looking forward to the break :rotfl:

 If the child-minding facility you offer is available until the end of term, doesn't the Mum give you a 'retainer' to keep her kids' places open during the time she chooses not to use the service?

Hope you've had a fun and interesting time at your course today. :) ..And not spent too much afterwards. ;)

Yes am with Robin here..you should get a retainer even if it is for a mate.. The childminders I know all do that..as do nurseries (they usually charge full whack regardless)

Boo to not speaking to OH...and having to speak to Vanqu1s instead...he will have to make that up to you big time ;)

Thanks Granny - Brizzled's post gave me the clue. ;)
(Just couldn't see it before; got definite holes in brain's computing power :o).
  • Thank you all for dropping by :j

DH called last night finally :T he had to keep going and calling back though as he seems to have about 20 men in his charge that didn't know what they were doing. :(! He'd spent 7 days on a mountain with only one other man in the freezing cold and torrential rain, he wasn't too happy when he got back to base and things weren't how he'd left them, so i'm hoping once calm has been restored he can talk to me for more than 2 minutes without being interrupted!

I've been feeling sorry for myself hence not been on here much. My endometriosis was playing up big time :( and i've had a huge headache alongside it since Friday. It's eased slightly today thankfully!

Course yesterday was fun but I felt full of cold (and had endo pains) so sat there all sniffly for most of it and then DH called in the middle of it and I had to take it, so I felt like the naughty child the entire morning :o:rotfl:. Thankfully I didn't miss much when I ran off with phone in hand as we had been playing with play doh :rotfl:.

Tenant has gone. She's left the place quite clean but (does there always have to be a but) the place stinks of urine and the walls are a funny colour even though she attempted to clean them. So I have asked for a quote for re-decorating and steam cleaning carpets. I think I may have to just re-carpet it though as I know from experience when a cat wees (and i'm assuming any other animal) the smell lingers on and I don't think she made much of an attempt to clean it at the time. So am hoping the re decorating all comes in at under £1000 as that's all I have in emergency & rental house fund combined at the mo (well I have slightly over but I need to pay for new tenancy agreements etc for next tenant). It's only upstairs that need re-carpeting and the stairs. Downstairs is wood. Plus all the walls. It's not a huge house so i'm hopeful.......ever hopeful eh!

I got my shopping yesterday and it came in on budget even with all the ingredients needed for making play doh ;)sparkly, colourful playdoh! We're going to use my old cutters to make shapes and then I will bake them and we can paint as xmas tree decorations :T 2 activities on 2 different days to keep kids happy.

Oh and as for the money thing, I believe my friend did actually stipulate I wouldn't be working those times, and we agreed I wouldn't be paid for holidays, it's my fault I had forgotten :o . I'm not doing it with all the paperwork etc as a 'real' childminder would so I wasn't bothered. I've paid for xmas etc so all the money she gives me each month goes straight to savings anyway so it will just mean the savings are slightly less. I can still make my £3k target though I reckon ;) and I get a break :)

When Leo widdled on the carpet I got there with the fairy liquid and scrubbed, then I learnt that the enzymes in bio-washing liquid/powder actually gets rid of the enzymes in the cat pee. Might be worth a shot to save the carpets, although if it's gone all the way through to the underlay I'm not sure there's much hope there :( Unless you completely soak the carpets with the bio-mix.
