Just seen this evening [yesterday evening?]'s shenanigans..

Ok DFw, you've contacted the rescue centre where the dog came from. If they don't send someone out to home-check PDQ - which will pretty certainly result in dog's removal - then I would suggest an email campaign to the CEO because something must be very wrong at that particular branch (see pm).

Have changed my mind about Neighbour's family being suitable to provide a forever home to a snow-dog. With that kind of attitude the poor beast doesn't stand a chance.. :(

Thanks Robin, I emailed them pretty late last night (well past 9pm) and I got a response from them within half an hour saying thanks for getting in touch we will investigate. I hope they do it sooner rather than later. It's already very awkward going out into my own back garden in case their dog (or them for that matter) are out there. I have stood outside with Duke each and every time he's wanted to go out so far but I can't and in fact refuse to do it for much longer.

I really do feel sorry for the dog, it could quite easily escape too. Our back gate is broken in the winter (when the wood swells up) and is often found blowing open in this colder weather. What if their dog was to jump over to mine and take himself off for a walk? I certainly won't be held responsible for having my gate open I can assure you. They seem very immature now i've tried to seriously talk to them and I want no more to do with them as I can feel my blood pressure rise thinking about them! From here on in I will be contacting other people about it, be it the rescue where she came from, our AUW (army unit welfare) or someone else. Until then I will avoid the garden. :(

  • "Today will be a good day" (I will keep telling myself this too!)

I have nothing to do today, no where to be, I've got food in the house and so I think we will have a day in! I may take the dog for a walk later when the kids are in bed by myself rather than making them all come with me (which they moan about all the way round!).

Tomorrow is D-Day for tenant meeting my lady at the house, so that is very much on my mind too today. I will need to get new carpets sorted out in there and am wondering if the management company can sort things like this out too

I've not heard from DH in days, he won't know what's hit him when he finally gets all the texts I sent, no doubt all in the wrong order! Me being my usual hysterical self about the dog, the tenant, sick children and gawd knows what else :o still at least i'm pretty much see-through you get what you see with me. My lovely quiet neighbours have shocked me somewhat, we all thought they were so nice and here they are spitting venom at every chance they get :rotfl: My mother always said to watch the quiet ones ;) (probably because she wanted to make herself feel better for being a loud one like me :rotfl:)

I have a new DVD upstairs ready to wrap for xmas and i'm almost tempted to go get it and watch it today to cheer us up :o but it means one less present to open (and they aren't getting a lot this year!)

We've been bird spotting in the garden this morning :) my trampoline has been turned into an 8ft feeding table with lots of balls/bread/whatever else I could find to feed them. We've spotted magpies, starlings, jays & finchs and just 20 mins ago we spotted a little robin who has been coming into my garden for ages :T The kids said he must have been having a lie in :rotfl:

  • Hi DFW,

What a nightmare with the neighbours. Lets hope the recue home does something about it.

I would be VERY tempted to help the dog run off out of the gate if it came in my garden, maybe then the neighbours might have a conscience (sp) to get something sorted.

How much fencing needs replacing is it many metres long?. If there is a man living there, it would be easy for him to knock up a makeshift fence even out of pallets, even just as a temporary measure to help keep the dog in. It doesn't have to be super expensive panels.

I guess you are beyond the. Why don't we both pay halves and your Dh construct it?. Sounds like that's not a possibility.

Try not to let it bother you, but I would do a lot of letter writing/ phone calls to places like RSPCA and police etc to see if something can be done.

Hope you have an ice peaceful day.

  • Thanks for posting Steph :j It's crossed my mind too whether that would be the final push for them to sort something out but i'd never forgive myself if it got run over. We don't live on a busy road but there are houses being built near by with lots of big trucks and tractors in and out all the time, i'd be worried they wouldn't see it if it ran in front of them :(

No more news on dog today, if i'm honest i've avoided the garden as much as possible! The kids asked to take the dog out  so we went to the beach for a couple of hours :) I stopped at the farm shop on the way home for fruit, veg & salad and a huge bag of spuds which will last longer than a1di ones and are also more cost effective :T. Free parking, free walk on the beach collecting shells and taking pics and farm shop was £16 and I had to get petrol so that was £30 (hoping this is enough for the rest of the month now)

Dinner tonight is defrosted HM chilli, rice & "indian" salad as I like to call it :p:rotfl: I think it's actually called onion salad but I only ever eat it with spicy foods so renamed it Indian :o (Onion, tomato, cucumber, salt & coriander! Yummy!:D) I'm also debating going back out for another bottle of wine :o i didn't get it earlier though thought I would have a think first :rotfl: i fancy a glass of red now i'm home though and only have a small glass of white left from last night :p

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

Hope you have a fun day today with the kids.

Mouse has been returned to the woods looking rested and perkier. Small boy made him a mouse sized ham sandwich to fortify him before he left.

I have to admit to loving that boy more each day. Mad as a box of frogs but all that we all so disposed and never lost our wonder.

Hope all is quiet on the Dog Front.
Here's an amusing illustration of Snow-dogs' attitude to fences:

  • Hi DFW,

So sorry to read the trouble youve been having with the neighbours dog. Cant believe the attitude they are taking with it all, I would not want my dog in someone elses garden let alone the other stuff ie digging up and getting bitten! Dont know why some people have pets tbh!

You shouldnt have to but if I were you I would just get the fence put up for your own peace of mind. Sod them, hopefully they wont be there long! xx

  • DFW321 - I found the info below on the The Dog Trust website, you need to contact the RSPCA, your neighbour has to by law control her dog at all times that includes in her own home, I would contact RSPCA and tell them you have concerns about a dog that has been re homed with your neighbours, its not under control and has several times jumped their fence and entered your garden and you have concerns for your children and own dog's safety, the RSPCA will look into it and it will probably be the shake up that she needs, tell them you have tried to talk to her about putting fencing up but she has refused.

Hope you are ok and had no problems today.

Control:By law you must keep your dog

under control at all times and prevent

him from being a nuisance to others.

A court may order the owner to keep

him under proper control or to be put

to sleep if he is found to be threatening

to the public. If a dog is found worrying

livestock he could be shot without

warning by a farmer, and the owner

could face prosecution. Dogs must also

be kept on a lead on any designated

    road.

  • Glad you've had a better day today DF(W). Yay to free entertainment.

    Bless SB Jen Xx
