Sounds like you've had an eventful couple of days. In regards to cheques, I get paid with them all the time, usually I don't mind although I have had problems a couple of times in the past and ended up out of pocket (no point sending the customer to court as he folded his business and I would have been way down on the list of priorities anyway).

I'd honestly be devastated if my son started saying things like that.

My problem is with cheques is that they have full power of when they cash it, could be today (preferable as I have it in mind) or next month when a ditzy mare like me will have forgotten :( My own fault for being forgetful but even writing myself reminders I still forget *d'oh*

I think all kids go through stages like this, they like to push boundaries and they pick up an awful lot of things from school. Ironically I've heard my friend swear only a handful of times in the time i've known her and that's when she's super upset and alone with just me (no kids) so I'm not sure if she got it from her mum or school ....either way it's something they will pick up on. It's a kids job to push us so they know what their limits are. She had a telling off from me and when her mum got here I told her about the whole thing and she was told off again so she now knows it's not ok to do it. I would say to you that your son will go through stages just like this, I bet you did too. All you can do is place boundaries & a few rules and stick to them! My ds1 was pretty much an only child up to 10 yrs old and he was a great child never did anything wrong really, never in trouble at school, then he goes off to boarding school and learns every swear word under the sun and acts up. I don't think btw it was to do with the school, I just think he had his 'pushing boundaries' phase later rather than sooner, it's human nature to want to know what we can do without consequence I think (if that makes sense) ....I am just hoping my ds1 grows out of his soon (it's much more tiring than a 4/5 yr old doing it!!!!)

That is exactly the type of reason I avoid paying by cheque, well that and for the past few years Mrs. K. and I have been struggling to make ends meet without having to think about money going out of our account at any time.

I know what you mean about pushing boundaries, I was far from the perfect son, in fact my parents and I have only just started to get on with one and other in the past few years. Not sure how I'd cope with another one of me! :o

  • End of the working week for me and I only just made it! I've a huge headache and more trouble from the littlest one :(! This time she spat at the dinner table when I gave her her dinner  i'd spent ages making a pizza, potato salad, salad & garlic bread all from scratch and she told me she didn't want that disgusting cheese on it and spat  I was so angry! She got yet another telling off from me and do you know what was most irritating is that she ate all of it anyway . She sure is testing me and i'm very wary of my kids copying her! I think she is missing her mum if i'm totally honest so i'm trying to ignore most of her naughty behaviour and she's gotten a little better but I can't ignore swearing and spitting unfortunately (for her!)

Anyway not thinking about it until Sunday evening now (when I think oh no my house will be destroyed tomorrow morning!)

I'm super tired and thinking an early bath & bedtime for me. I still have Friday to get through with my kids, and of course i'm stupid and have invited 3 kids over to play tomorrow after school. It started as 1 (DD's friend) then DS2 cried because he never has friends over (which is true) so i invited my friend's little boy who is in DS2's class and she said yes sure but her other little boy (In DD's class) would probably sulk so I felt bad and said, "ok i'll have them both" I did invite her too though so it should be easy (says I) same amount of kids as usual but an extra adult?! Easy peasy :rotfl:and i'm making dinner from scratch, which I think I may tackle before they all get home :)

Roll on Saturday for a lie in, the kids have been asking for one all week now so think the dark mornings are taking their toll!

Oh and I took the dog on a 3 mile run earlier (although I was on a bike so not too hard on me :p)

    NSD too :)

Gosh D.Free, sounds like Youngest Child is a right little Madam! Hopefully a telling off from someone who isn't her Mum sank in, and you never see a repeat of the spitting!

Hope you're enjoying a good sleep after a relaxing bath - you surely deserve it! ;)
