Morning

Thank you SA & Robin
I was sound asleep by 9.30 after a lovely bath and reading some of my confusing book on Buddhism (which I gave up on and went to sleep instead :rotfl:).
Woke up this morning to a little girl searching for Christmas presents  Naughty naughty!!! So I jumped out of bed as she was correct in thinking there might be some in the big boxes by her daddy's side of the bed  I put them there to remind me to wrap them and hide, i've not gotten round to it so I think that's a job for today
Husky adventures continue, the dog was in my garden again so I went straight out as guess what....she was trying to figure out how to get into my other neighbour's garden....i/e 2 gardens away from her own!!! She clearly wants the entire row of gardens to herself. Unlucky for her there is a bigger dog that lives in there and I'm not sure she'd be welcomed! My neighbour came out to retrieve her - the man neighbour this time- and I took my opportunity to express my worry. I think my dog wil actually bite his dog, to which it might not bother her as he's pretty small but I think she would then retaliate and bite him back to which I think may be the end of him! He looked at me bemused and grunted some "hmm ok" and walked off. My blood is beginning to boil over this matter. I may have put across the worst case scenario but isn't this the way it should be looked at? His dog is 4x bigger than mine and he would have every right in his mind to bite her if she's in his territory?!
Anyway, I've spoken to both of them now not much more I can do other than totally lose it to which my DH calls it the "insert my maiden name here syndrome"
like a dog with a bone I won't let it go and as I get more and more het up the more I lose the ability to speak and use the English language and I just end up all shouty and scary
so he be warned I asked nicely :rotfl:
Done the banking, it tells me there is nothing pending, i'm not entirely sure cheques go on the pending thing I think they just take them out with no warning so will keep an eye on it whilst it's still in my mind. The money I donated to the charity has gone so no need to look out for that one too now. I still have money in there surprisingly so I am going to check my spreadsheet as i'm wondering if there is something i've forgotten to pay  any spare money this month will be put into the rental house fund as I have a feeling it will be needed soon enough! Oh and guess what as I was typing this DS1 has brought me another form, with another trip on costing around £120 this time ...£20 deposit for this too. I have enough because I can dip into the emergency funds if need be but what about all those parents like me last year (and many of you maybe) that cannot do this and are on or below the breadline already. It's not well thought out, surely they should have spread these costs a little more. So he so far has a holiday to Wales next year, a trip to London & a trip to a Uni ....i'm going back to school!!!!!!!!!!!!!Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. I've just ordered DS2's main xmas pressie
a new bike! His other one was getting too small and leaned to one side with the stabilisers on so he was finding it hard to learn how to balance? SO dh said to get him a newer one and slightly bigger so we can teach him in the new year to ride without stabilisers like his sister :T I spotted this bike a month ago but it was out of stock and just got the email this morning to say it's back in stock and half price
that's one main pressie down now to find something for DS1 & DD

Hello DFw, glad to hear your Buddhist studies gave you what you really needed - sleep! :rotfl:debtfreewannabe321 wrote: »Woke up this morning to a little girl searching for Christmas presents  Naughty naughty!!! Aww; bless the impatient child!
..You need a better hiding place though not sure what to suggest. My kids were always told that any attempts to investigate Santa's helpers' preparations would result in the presents being given to another child for whom they would be a surprise on xmas morning - seemed to work!

So you didn't show Neighbour that linky to what was an excellent, unusually large run? £400 was an absolute steal for that, even if it cost another £100 to collect would still have been under half price.
Is Duke a Jack Russell? If so I share your concern for him. Snow dogs don't tend to be aggressive towards other dogs but the history of this one is unknown. If Duke gets snappy the Mal is likely to treat it as a game, but as she has such thick fur and larger jaws Duke could be at risk of injury - until you've socialised them together away from the home.
For the sake of friendly neighbourly relations, it really is worth a bit of effort. Also with your kids - teach them not to run away if the Mal approaches them (don't want Duke trying to defend a screaming, running child!). It's highly unlikely that the Mal wants to do anything but play, so will stop if the child stands still.
Obviously this will require a session with Neighbour and dog (in their garden with Duke well out of the way).
Good luck!
Well done on finding MSE xmas pressies!

I'm feeling all christmassy :xmassign: Have just picked up DS2's main present and also had it made by the man in the shop after all the dramas of his last bike *cough* which I put together *cough*
that was only £5.99 so I thought it was worth it. If they had said £30 I would have got DH to do it :rotfl:. Had a walk around the shop whilst there and got a few cheapy toys (educational games for learning phonics & telling the time) and I put back lots that I picked up that was just tat and not worth it
They will only be getting a small amount this year and I intend for all the toys to be not cheap plastic ones that break (had far too many of these in the past!) Still stumped on what to get DS1
, does anyone have any idea on what 15 yr olds like aside from xboxone and ps4 ??!
I need to walk the dog but i'm coming down with a cold and feel all snuffly and tired and really can't be bothered. Poor dog is sat staring at me with his head cocked to one side as if to say "please mummy" so I will it just might be shorter than the 3 miles I managed yesterday (do dogs have a sense of times/distance I wonder?)Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. Hello DFw, glad to hear your Buddhist studies gave you what you really needed - sleep! :rotfl:
Oh I x-posted with you
Oh i was so confused by the story that they were trying to tell I read one page 3 times before thinking perhaps i'm just too tired :rotfl:tried it again today and nope it's still confusing
(history of buddhism)

haha good call! I usually use the loft but my loft reaching man is not here (DH) :rotfl: I will wrap them and hide them somewhere....we've no storage in this house so i'll have to be creative I think!
So you didn't show Neighbour that linky to what was an excellent, unusually large run? £400 was an absolute steal for that, even if it cost another £100 to collect would still have been under half price.
no I didn't....perhaps if by Sunday they haven't sorted their fence out I will be printing it off and posting it through their door

No Duke is a mini schnauzer and theirs is very placid but I think the problem will be if Duke goes for her (which I can see happening) he's never ever gone for a dog before until he met her.

The thing i'm most annoyed about is the fact it is my garden and I don't want her dog in here, the same as Duke doesn't. She has already dug holes all over their garden and this morning I caught her trying to dig her way from my garden into my other neighbour's garden (i've now got a big hole
) They need to stop her as the dog has no right coming into my garden, simple really. I am trying to be nice though as I do like them. And the dog seems nice, it's just that it's not my dog and I don't want it over here trying to get into my house every day

Thank God it's Friday (evening) is all I can say
One of the worst weeks of this year so far I think! I had an utter nightmare earlier which went a little like this: I got dog ready for his walk, opened the back door and went outside and stopped for a second whilst locking back door. Neighbour's dog was up and over the fence again and straight over to me to say hello, Duke tried to bite her (am unsure if he actually did as happened so quick, but i think he did
) and I grabbed him and held him whilst she was called back next door by neighbour. No apology or anything for not keeping the dog on her side and she slammed the back door shut after when she went back in. In fact now I think about it, not even any acknowledgement for me or duke standing there. Went off on my walk thinking, walking and thinking. Text my neighbour stating that I was unsure if duke had bitten her but was her dog ok and perhaps if she kept to her own garden it wouldn't happen as Duke is feeling protective/threatened. I heard back 10 mins later saying "I'll let you know if she's ok after her walk later not sure if she is" !!!!!!? the dog didn't even cry and certainly didn't go off limping which is why I couldn't be sure my dog had bitten hers
*sigh* anyway I text back saying I think a fence is going to have to be put up now as it's basically ridiculous this situation and I don't want to fall out over it. I get back actually no we won't be getting a fence, we've no idea how long we're here for nor are wanting to spend money on it before xmas. Gobsmacked! So she doesn't want to safeguard her own dog???? HUH??? I text back although don't remember what and again she said no way, and that my children were jumping over her fence last summer when she was heavily pregnant and that they annoyed the hell out of her
:(:( I told them off every time they did it and punished them and it stopped after a few times. I was so gobsmacked by this that she should compare my children to her dog that I completely forgot about her son doing the same and walking mud through my house more than once and drawing on my walls
. Oh and I received another text saying "you go ahead and put up the fence if you like we won't be offended in the slightest but we aren't doing it" I'm so upset I don't know what to do, i've spent the entire week having such highs and lows i've exhausted myself now. I feel I must be in the wrong somehow from how they've treated me? I've not made this nasty in any way and yet that was their first reaction to get their backs up and make this personal to me.
I am thinking of contacting the RSPCA as I don't know how else to go about this. I can't see them doing anything about a fence unless pushed to do so? I am too worried about bumping into them in the garden now as well and daren't leave my house. SO fed up I wish DH were here
I'm sorry for the rant, needed to let it out somewhere. I've a bottle of wine in front of me and i'm going to attempt to de-stress now!
ETA: I've found her page on the internet and on the page for adopting her it says this:
Being a husky she does need lots of exercise – if you wanted to let her run in a garden then a high fence would be a must as Huskies can scale high walls/fences. Also we wouldn’t recommend letting her off a lead as she could run for miles (which of course is what Huskies were bred for) Our regular dog walker has spent some time with her in a high fenced enclosure and told us that she runs for about 15 minutes and then settles down. -Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. Gosh DFW321!
I hope you've had a good glug of vino and manage to rest yourself a bit this evening? That is terrible!! I did a lot of research into huskies before we went with our GSD and one of the reasons was the fact that they are soooo energetic - isn't it that if they go for a run they will just keep going until something stops them. And a fence isn't enough because they dig underneath them so you may need to lay something under the fence like you might with hen hutches to stop the huskies digging below the fences? It doesn't sound like the woman knows what she's let herself in for with that one!! Which is not the dog's fault -it's the owners for not understanding the breed
That always makes me so sad
It doesn't seem fair you might have to put a fence up. I'm guessing you don't want to bring it up in discussions when you have them with OH to not talk about negatives? You always sound like you have so much on your hands - I wish I could come up there and bring you round mine for a slice of cake and cup of tea!!
And swearing children and kids wanting xboxone!!! My goodness!!!!! I send giant virtual hugs.

Definitely a wine night.
Our husky used to dig under the fence into the park beside our house but never the opposite way where the psycho neighbours live. When we did the house up I had a raised flower bed put along half of the fence and concreted in her favourite bolt holes. She could jump the fence via the flowerbed but doesn't.
As for walks she used to run off when she was a pup but she's fine now. If she refuses to come back I just turn around, say "Bye" and walk in the opposite direction for about 10 yards...she always comes back then. She's also a huge Ginger Nuts fan and will always come back for one of them.
She is a tad mental tho but that may be her having to cope with us, grandad and the kittens :T:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Thanks c.r and kj
I had more messages and now I can't sleep as I'm so upset. She got very nasty and personal. My youngest was a bit of a pest last summer and kept climbing over the fence into their garden and she threw it in my face asking how that is different? ??! Also said that my son had "threatened" her and her son with a garden tool (is she serious? My son was 3/4 !) I think she has just got too personal and nasty now and I will be ceasing contact via msging although it's very handy to keep!
I found her page (the dogs) as I said earlier and traced it through to the actual place that had rehomed her and I've emailed them asking for advice and what the situation is. I've not a clue how to resolve this issue hence I can't sleep. I just wish DH were here

Just seen this evening [yesterday evening?]'s shenanigans..
Ok DFw, you've contacted the rescue centre where the dog came from. If they don't send someone out to home-check PDQ - which will pretty certainly result in dog's removal - then I would suggest an email campaign to the CEO because something must be very wrong at that particular branch (see pm).
Have changed my mind about Neighbour's family being suitable to provide a forever home to a snow-dog. With that kind of attitude the poor beast doesn't stand a chance..
