Do as little as possible with that hand, taking extra care not to bend that finger. It won't do it any good splitting over & over again. If it gets too bothersome, maybe try splinting it to the next finger so you can't bend it
Hope you are taking it easy, (as am I, thanks for asking) x

Hope you finger is healing better and you are not bending it too much!!
When you are much, much better please can you give me a review of your heated airer?
Over on Alice's thread we are discussing airer's - I need a new one and am thinking of a heated one but need to hear from someone who has actually used it.
Thanks0 -
Hi all, thank you so much for popping in :T I am feeling better, still sicky but i'm convinced it's from the penicillin and I finish it tonight thankfully so only one day of feeling this sick (I hope  ).
I didn't go on Sunday both the fact I was broke and still very tired made me just think it'd be a total waste of time. I let her know early enough and she was fine about it thankfullyI hate letting people down! I have today taken the 2 girls to school that I was supposed to do last week! It was fine, they were dropped off at 8.15 and we leave at 8.45 so they just watched cartoons with my 2 smaller ones and it was nice and quiet (wonder if that will last long!). I'm picking the youngest girl up this afternoon and dropping her straight at youth club so no bother there either and the eldest will walk herself home as she will only be waiting half hour by herself. I have said I can't really do a Thursday because of swimming lessons so I think she has sorted someone else out to do it so it doesn't feel like such a burden now (hmm not really the right word there but with my hand still in a sling everything is like an effort right now!). brain has turned to mush on all these tablets
I went to the hospital today for my check up and hand is healing much better than they thought :T I told them I had been cutting up my aloe plant and using the gel inside it, from the looks I got i'm not convinced they believed me :rotfl:. DH has been home since Monday lunchtime, as soon as he was back he was put on duty  and told he had to report in immediately for 24 hour duty. He managed to get this morning off to take me to the hospital, but it wasn't easy and he's gone straight back in now. I am much better but i've been told no driving, no getting hand wet and resting as much as possible. Huh!?! Don't think so! If I feel up to driving next week i'm allowed to try but apparently I must ring my insurance company first and tell them about the surgery and ask their permission
what if they say no?!!! If I don't call them and have an accident the physio man said i may not qualify for cover from them. Nothing can ever be easy huh!
Also need to call someone about jobs in the house that need doing as now is the perfect time whilst i'm in all day.....must do this asap (keep forgetting)
I've been paid expenses for aug-sept. Haven't put in last month's claim yet so need to fill it all out and get it in soon.
I have to say me and the kids are really taken with the new freeview box. it has youview on it and we've signed up to the movie thing on there as we get 1 month free trial and we've watched over a dozen films already :T I am thinking of keeping it on for the winter months, at £10 a month plus the broadband/phone package it still works out much cheaper than the v1rgin ever was :T and we don't need to take a contract out so can cancel whenever! Why didn't I ditch the v1rgin/$ky years ago!!!
Not much else going on really...so will leave it there and answer a few of your posts now! xMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

Thanks
I love it!
I have the largest one from l@keland, and thought it was rather pricey but it's brilliant for wet weather like we have now. AND it heats up whichever room you put it in. My MIL has been sold on it whilst she's been over and is off to buy the smaller version for herself :T.
Shirts/thin cottons dry in a couple of hours if laid across it properly (you mustn't overload it!) and things like towels take a fair few hours but they do dry and I have found if I have a blanket/sheet over the top it dries much much quicker as the heat stays in better.Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. Glad you are ok Granny :T:D
Thing with my finger is I've been told to bend it as much as I possibly can to stop the tendon seizing up and it never regaining full movement. They knew the healing would be slower and told me so but they were more concerned with me losing full movement on my index finger so I was sent home with a sheet from physio and told to bend it in certain ways 10x every hour!!!:eek: It has been slower to fixing the wound, but they were right in doing this as straight after surgery I could barely move it as the infection had started there and affected the tendon so me having been made to move it and bend it has helped massively :T. I have, i'd say around 80% flexibility in it now and he thinks the other 20% will come when the swelling goes completely and the stitches have healed properly. The wound has been closed since I left the hospital and so it hasn't bled so they must know what they are doingI'm very impressed, and aside from maternity/ante natal units i've never needed the NHS really so this is the first time i've seen how great our nhs is really! :T:T

Thank you all
I've finished the penicillin now :T:j And finally am feeling slightly better ! I have a teensy amount of energy today, the first in over a week! I was going to walk the dog, tidy the house and catch up with washing (well as much as I can with one hand still out of action) BUT have decided to instead do some washing, do the dishes & sit down. I always, always have this fight with myself when I start feeling better that I need to do everything all at once. Then I overdo it and end up ill again. I am going to leave things for a few weeks, slowly get back to normal (routine wise) and if my energy levels are still as bad as they have been over the last couple of months then i am going back to the drs again. I've had enough of it now, but am very mindful that this episode of feeling zapped could be because of the infection/truck load of antibiotics i've been on  so I will wait it out for a bit.
I've not volunteered since I went into hospital and I am going to email them before next week to let them know when I am back. I think I want to get back into it as soon as possible so as I don't start feeling depressed on top of exhaustion as that will make me worse I think!
The dishwasher has been temporarily fixed :T:j I got home from hospital and MIL asked what was wrong with it, I didn't know so we decided to take bits apart flush it through with bleach and a cleaner and try it again. It's worked :j I have briefed dh & ds1 to clean off all plates/glasses etc first and then put it in. I had lots of moans from both, saying it defeated the object of a dishwasher but I can't get my hand wet yet so I have told them if they want me to do it then that's the protocol from now on no arguments, otherwise i'm happy for them to wash up by hand themselvesguess what, they've been rinsing first and using the DW :rotfl:
I still need to arrange my breakdown cover, think i might just go with my renewal quote as it looks to be the cheapest even with cashback taken into consideration! I have called up to arrange some jobs in the house to be fixed, i'm unsure if they will fix them thoughone of the kids (not one of them will admit who) dropped something in the upstairs sink and it's cracked - a massive crack too which is leaking when dh uses it
. I'm wondering if we will be charged now. I also have a crack in the double glazing on the back door  kids again and no one owning up to it!!!
I've got ds1 his phone for his birthday but as i'm unable to get to town I have no box to put it in yet so I need to do this before Saturday. I've ordered his cards to arrive (with discount & cashback!) so hopefully it will all arrive on time. I don't know whether to bake his cake with dh one evening or just buy one for easiness as I can't do it alone atm. Thing is DH has been super busy since getting back and he's been on duty most of the week now. they've allowed him time off for my appointments, and hopefully for the kids swimming lessons later but they've not been very helpful overall. SO yet again DH is talking about leaving his job. I have to say, this time i'm in agreement with him
. I will see how he is feeling once he's calmed down, but I will be thinking of a plan B if he does leave..........No matter what I am still moving from here next year

Sorry to hear about your finger - sounds really 'ouch!'
Luckily you are so organised and if DH does leave and find a new job you are prepared in a way financially.0
