well turned out my finger was worse than i thought as i'm writing this on a hospital tv/compter thing. after taking myself to a&e friday night i was transferred to another hospital for infection. i had an emergency op last night to cut hand open and drain it. i had a total panic attack over surgery (i was a virgin in that dept) and the kids as wasnt expecting it. as it was an emergency i had very little time to get used to idea and infection was nearly to my elbow. i ended up having to be put asleep as i got myself in such a statealso not nice having no one here before or after. got hold of dh only after coming out and he was all in a panic too. :rotfl:so much for my quiet weekend. mil is with kids now and i hope to be home soon. NEVER OPEN A TIN OF PAINT WITH A STEAK KNIIFE. EVEN IF THE BUTTER KNIFE DIDN'T WORK. New motto in life :rotfl:
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear - (((hugs)))
A steak knife? And a mucky steak knife to boot, eh!
..Am surprised; here's you DFw - a keen furniture up-cycler, yet you haven't even got a large screwdriver or kn@ckered chisel specifically for opening paint tins?
Well, it'll be a useful lesson for your children. We used to call this sort of injury a KMQ - Kill Me Quick! I still keep a spray-bottle of tea-tree oil on a table just inside the front door for such 'stab' injuries (worth mentioning that kids must be told not to touch their face after spraying a wound).
Anyway; very, very glad to hear that the good ol' NHS is getting you sorted out, DFw; hope you're not stuck in hospital for too long.

debtfreewannabe321 wrote: »Well I've got myself another job............another job that I don't get paid for :wall: what on earth is going on with me lately! A lady from school that I sort of know went for a job yesterday but was worried about getting her kids to school on time and being able to collect them (her new job would be in a different school just round the corner) so I suggested that I could do it for her. I think I am truly stupid, honestly. I've never known anyone to do as many jobs for free :rotfl: In one week i'll have been carer, childminder, taxi driver and not been paid a penny. Oh well my own fault really, I wouldn't mind either if I didn't have a savings plan in mind  Not sure how long I will be doing it for but I think she will be looking for a breakfast club and some sort of after school one too so we'll see.
Oh and since posting I've realised I have an infection in my finger! I stabbed myself last week (by accident, i'm very clumsy) and it's been throbbing all afternoon! I gave it a little prod and white stuff is coming out
I've cleaned it and hope it'll be ok, and then straight after I stubbed my toe and think my toenail might fall off now too as it's very loose and also throbbing, red and bleeding. Oh geez!!! Right i'll quit whining now and leave you all be :rotfl:
I know those situations - the one's where you hear yourself going "can I help" whilst the brain is screaming "noooooooo!!!!".
As for the finger - sounds nasty. I know a trip to hospital wasn't what you wanted, but maybe it will allow you a day or so to relax and catch up on some sleep.
Take care of yourself.0 -
Thanks all have to stay in another 24hours. Feeling woozy from all the drugs and worse than yesterday! Kids are sorted out though that's my main worry. I was feeling so run down before all this I am hoping it won't hamper recovery time too much. Got an appointment with hand clinic soon then I'm going to try and catch up on sleep as was woken several times in night by nurses for one thing or another.
