  • Landlord insurance paid for for the year :j £21 cheaper than the renewal quote at £101 for the year with £84 cashback (hopefully but don't like to count on it until it turns up in my account :T) If cashback goes through that's £17 for the whole year

  • OMG have given up trying to work out the breakdown cover there are so many extras my brain went fuzzy and I just shut the page down :o I thought I had found a good one until I went through to the payment page and it suddenly sprung up from £30 to £90  even with a little cashback it was too much for my liking :rotfl: Having just paid for the car tax from car fund that account is rather low so I have a certain amount and that is it (am being strict with myself! Especially as *touch wood* we've not needed the cover since I broke down on the way to collect ds1 from his boarding school a couple of years ago!).

Oh and the landlord insurance was from a fund too so neither will affect this month's budget ;)

Doing well with the budgets!! Amazing cashback too. You're almost being paid to take the insurance out!!

Finger  - horrific as this sounds, when I infected the side of my fingernail, the nurse told me to prepare myself and hold on to something, then squeezed it SO HARD, pushing from my knuckle up to the end of my finger. I cried like a baby, but she disinfected it and wrapped it in a fairly loose bandage for 24 hours and told me to take paracetamol, and it was much better the next day. No antibiotics needed. As for your toe... That would make me cry too. Lots of hugs! Wrap yourself in cotton wool please, and stop volunteering yourself ;)

Could you try putting some salt in some hot water (boil kettle and allow to cool slightly) and then sticking your finger in for 5 minutes?

Stings like hell but then you can squeeze the infection out.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor but have done this before and it worked (only because I didn't have time to see the GP)

  • hey all!
well turned out my finger was worse than i thought as i'm writing this on a hospital tv/compter thing. after taking myself to a&e friday night i was transferred to another hospital for infection. i had an emergency op last night to cut hand open and drain it. i had a total panic attack over surgery (i was a virgin in that dept) and the kids as wasnt expecting it. as it was an emergency i had very little time to get used to idea and infection was nearly to my elbow. i ended up having to be put asleep as i got myself in such a state :o also not nice having no one here before or after. got hold of dh only after coming out and he was all in a panic too. :rotfl:so much for my quiet weekend. mil is with kids now and i hope to be home soon.
