Sorry to hear about your finger - sounds really 'ouch!'
Luckily you are so organised and if DH does leave and find a new job you are prepared in a way financially.
Yes I have been thinking about it for a few days now since he first told me he was going to hand in his notice. He has to work a year's notice so it's not like we will be out on our ear next month. We've no debt anymore, we've savings, perhaps now is the time to move on as a family rather than me leaving him behind for most of the week and commuting long distances home. I am pretty sure he will get another job, even though he's worried because he got no GCSEs. It hasn't stopped him up to now and i've known him his entire working life practically and I don't remember a time when he was out of work for long.We only live this life once, we may as well make it as good as we can :A

Sounds like a good attitude to have re DH leaving work!
Thought you were going to take it easy? Doesn't sound like it with fixing dishwashers and baking cakes etc!!

After listening to DH moan for the last couple of years on and off I have been waiting for this to rear again. And let's face it, the job is rubbish, the cons outweigh the pros so I think the time is right and I was dreading moving away with just the kids so I can now look forward to moving as a family unit :T
However he's just been home for lunch and we had a huge row, i'm tempted to tell him where to go and it's not with me :rotfl::rotfl:. Guess what it was over..........! I got him to call his CC up as they've been ringing non stop whilst he was away and he owes £200+ again. Am really feeling quite defeated at his attempt to sabotage my savings. If he fancies something and doesn't have enough pocket money, what does he do? Put it on the CC. :wall: So we had a blazing row and off he went to work! We've sort of made up now but I told him I can't keep trying to do this all on my own and have refused to save whilst he's on his sabotaging mission (perhaps that was a bit strong and that's not what he's trying to do. He is just carp with money, but i'm fed up of it now  ) So we'll see if he actually gets on board now or if he just decides to want to spend all extra money every month to keep up with his mates (who are either single, or caught up in debt themselves.....) Annoying! I will continue to try and save though, regardless of what I said to himbut it's just hard now knowing I have to bail him out again when the next lot of money comes in :wall:

Just been skimming through your diary
Hope your finger is better? I managed to stab myself in the hand last year (trying to pry apart frozen sausages - STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!! :wall:) I had to have an operation too, took a week off work and was rattling with the amount of tablets I had to take......I also hit an artery and managed to spray almost every surface in the kitchen!
I hope you can get back to full working order soon and don't have any lasting effects from your finger....I can tell when a thunder storm is coming because my hand aches! lol

Hi DFw, :hello:
Hope DH took on-board your righteous frustration at his sabotaging family savings, and that you've had a calmer, useful discussion about your future by now.
Also hope A.Vera is working her usual magic on your cut finger - bet it heals much faster than GP / Nurse expects, lol.0 -
lhead - that is a super frightening story... BUT I have to laugh at your thunderstorm predictions.
I wish I had a magic finger!!! Minus the blood, operations and such...
dfw I am so glad you are starting to feel a bit more human. I am amazed at your willpower, trying to take things slowly, and also not throttling DH at the same time... Men do not grow up, always try to keep up with their mates whatever the cost, be it monetary or dignity-related, and somehow spending money on stuff for themselves is never the same as you buying stuff..? You 'waste it', they 'need it'
Hugs to you, and buy the cake. Mr A's have some brilliant ones at the minute and not too expensive... I am partial to a tray bake

Hello DFW, I am so glad you're getting better. Not sure if you remember me posting about my sister who got septicaemia about 3 years ago (you would be forgiven for not remembering), but she very nearly died, it was a worrying time. Well it took 18 months for her to fully recover, but fully recover she did.
Its ok to slowdown, and give yourself time to get better

Morning DFW
Hope you are not over-using your fingers too much with mending dishwashers etc. Tut tut.
I don't blame you having a mini explosion at Dh re his credit card. Is it worth paying it off and then cutting it up?? If he hasn't got it he can't use it. It must be tough having mates that are not in a similar situation to him, its so easy to get swept along with that trip to the pub etc. I expect it was just a lapse, we all have them. I would still be a meanie and cut it up though.
So you are planning on relocating nearer your job?. Sounds like a good idea. What does Dh want as his new career?. Does he need to reskill at college?
My hubby took the plunge to go self-employed, just as I got pregnant with our first child, which was a scary time, but he pulled it off and we haven't looked back. Life is far too short to be in a job that makes you totally miserable.
Keep smiling xx0 -
Afternoon all, I haven't got time to reply to you all separately. The laptop died the other day whenever I was last on here. So my banking, spreadsheets have all gone to pot. DS1 had downloaded $team onto our laptop and it basically couldn't cope with it as well as the dozen games he'd paid for and downloaded () so DH & I have spent days trying to fix it! I did end up buying him a cake, definitely not worth the £10 as ours taste much nicer
:rotfl: but needs must sometimes! He had a good day and spent most of it with friends whilst dh & I took the kids to the cinema (gr0upon deal i'd already paid for). DH & I haven't really discussed the CC much as I just know it will blow up again! However he knows he was in the wrong and admitted so (albeit over a text  men!) ....so moving on, the laptop is fixed minus $team, 12 games, several dozen "add on" things that just downloaded themselves, banking has been b*ggered up and so has ynab. I think after my month so far, I am going to draw a line under it, write it off, reconcile accounts with ynab at the end and be done with it. Roll on November so I can start again!
I have been paid some money today so have paid back a few accounts I had to borrow from when in hospital ( to pay for all the petrol) and I have sent some to the ISA, also left some in there to pay for food next week and I hope to get to the end of the month in the black
. DH has applied for his bonus, if he's leaving I told him he may as well take it now. it's not worth much but if he hands in his notice he won't be entitled to anything so what little it is worth now we are taking. I asked him what he would like to do with it and after our row he said " well you know put it into your budget thing and see where it's needed? " (and yes it was said almost like a question and very nervously as if to say, "is that the right answer?" :rotfl:)
Right well I have to go, after school club run now (already done the school run and nearly got blown away on that one ) I will try and catch up with everyone over the next few days now that the laptop is working and so is my finger :T (Oh yes finger update- nearly forgot- stitches are all out :T nurse was amazed at how it has healedtold him I wasn't joking about the aloe vera and he was more receptive this time instead of thinking me wacky :rotfl: and I have to go next week to see Dr but only once a month for physio until full movement is back and swelling is down :T)
