I am using a Blackvue 380HD camera, all wiring is tucked behind panels and is hidden. Takes crystal clear footage and its seen a couple of very near misses, one would of been VERY bad if the other driver hadn't of moved...thinking if it takes good footage of someone else's accident I could sell the footage to the non fault driver !

Its less money than my excess so if it saves me in a disputed accident then the camera is free.

I bought a couple from an online audioshop, but you can buy them from auction site from around £200 plus £20 for the power socket if you want to hard wire it in so its 100% hidden, or you plug it into the lighter socket.

The lighter adaptors are cheaper and smaller, the PCB in them (if there is one) will be the size of a thumbnail.

But for Joe Average, not used to doing stuff like that, the item you link to would be a better choice. Not convinced it'd fit inside the interior light unit though?

so what can anyone recommend to buy a decent discreet dash camera maybe with 1080p recording? probably only front recording as my rear window is tinted.
probably will wire this to 12v cig socket and hide wire through the sides of the windscreen and under steering wheel.

The UK seller that I used is this one

    http://joovuu.com/index.php

The supplied cable was not long enough to go round the windscreen of my car so I bought a 3 metre one from Ebay for £1.79

If you look on Ebay you can get them for £40-45ish from a reputable supplier in Hong Kong.

However if UK customs spot it then you have extra charges to pay which bring it up to £60ish
