It's also £15.30 on amazon, I trust it doesn't come with an SD card, which are £14.50 on amazon.
The one Iceweasel linked to certainly said it didn't come with an SD card.0 -
so, an in-car camera device, which records onto a hard drive/SD card....even if...& especially when, parked....clear enough to obtain a registration number...would be nice! Don't need to be warned about speed limits, or make the tea.
What about one for a rear view too? [Again for when parked...or to reinforce 'evidence' of tailgating [as distinct from, occasionally getting too close, but promptly doing something about it]....?]
Sorry, broke off half way through posting, to put dinner on....Mobus it is for the moment, then? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Some of the more expensive cameras such as ones made by Lukas have power packs for parked up coverage. And they use Sony CCDs but there is the price to pay in cost - £300+.
For rear view a lot of people on places like Pistonheads simply buy 2 cameras and have one pointing rearwards. I favour 2 cameras over 1 simply because a lot of dual cameras are still in the ropey firmware phase. Installing cameras on the rear window tends to be easier because the cable can be hidden and a lot of cars have 12v sockets in the boot. The man without a signature.0 -
I reckon that the recording time on the highest resolution would be around 3 to 4 hours as opposed to the 7.5 hours I get with lower resolution and a 16GB card.
No - of course you don't get a card at that price. LOL
Yes - the screen folds away when not in use.
As far as night-time pics are concerned - I've used it in a tunnel and that was fine - but I've not used it in total darkness.
I like the fact that it has an auto on and off function that detects motion of the car.
I have it set to continually record in 2 minute clips as per the example I posted.
When the card is full it starts to delete the oldest clips and just replace them with new ones.0 -

....clear enough to obtain a registration number...
Do people referring to a Mobus camera mean Mobius, or is this another option?0 -

The quality of the video that Iceweasel posted isn't good enough for this (at 11s into the clip a van drives past for instance, and I can't read it number plate). Can you read number plates in its highest resolution mode Iceweasel?

On the highest resolution - yes - but only if you freeze-frame/pause the clip.0 -
Gooogling Mobus got me into some strange links....so I think it's MobIus!
Regarding cameras.....if I went down this route [purely for insurance purposes....I don't go in for 'look-what-I-saw-today' stuff....no disrespect intended to those who do]......I wouldn't need any sort of in-car screen....just the camera and recording medium...which I could then download onto my computater for the 'evidence'...?
I have no need for sat-navs [I have been divorced three times!]....preferring maps, and a pair of reading glasses to find out where I should be [as distinct from, where I am?}.....
However, as age progresses, I might have to invest in a magnifying windscreen? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Watch for all the ones saying they are HD. Clearly not as there is no HD outputs and the resolutions dont match.
But without a power lead you will need to switch it on manually and stop it each time.
Also leaving it in the car will soon see you needing a new window and a new camera.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
