But without a power lead you will need to switch it on manually and stop it each time.
Also leaving it in the car will soon see you needing a new window and a new camera.
A lot of them upscale from really low resolutions, to 1080p = Very poor image quality.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have an old Fuji 2800 2MP camera. The picture quailty exceeded the Polaroid /Kodak 4 or 5MP camera i bought to replace it.
I gave the new camera away and kept the old Fuji, Its a match for my 7MP Fuji camera also, Despite having a lot less pixels, The images are sharp and crisp.

That's where a good quality lens shows the difference. You can record as many pixels as you like but if the lens is pants then the picture will be too. It'll just be a better quality poor picture! What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

They're certainly not, but as a marketing point you can always sell "bigger is better".
Like a lot of the late Windows XP PCs, shipping out of stores with 8GB of ram, 6GB of which didn't work. You can't explain technical stuff to technophobes, but you can blind them with bulls**t.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I am using a Mio Mivue 338, about £99. Many of the 'ebay specials' are sold on by Maplin and the reviewers had issues with many of them packing in after a while, put me off.
The Mio is a nicely made tiny unit. It starts recording 2 minute segments overwriting the oldest clips in order, I have been getting over 2 hours on a 16gb card (not supplied). Records in true 720p HD and has a decent 120 degree lens. There is a mini colour screen on the back. It has a socket for video output but doesn't come with a cable.
Its got a G-sensor and in the case of an incident is supposed to lock the relevant video clip to protect it from being overwritten - not tested the function yet.
It has a rechargeable battery, not sure how long it lasts and starts up and records as soon as power from the car is detected, it shuts down 10 seconds after the car is switched off. It can be manually set to record while the car is parked up.
The main thing I don't like is the windscreen suction mount, the mount arm is too long and holds the camera unnecessarily far from the glass. I wanted to mount it high up by the mirror out of sight but suction pads won't stick to the painted dots areas on my windscreen edges and any lower and it obstructs my view as I am quite tall I use the upper part the windscreen. Currently have it mounted low down so it gets a bit of bonnet too, not ideal but I am sure I can modify a phone mount.
Otherwise its a good quality item and very easy to use.
I have had a few incidents over last year where my car has had a mild hit when parked or stopped and the following 'discussions' with the offenders has been astonishingly unpleasant - the serial offenders have obviously learnt that if they rant, rave and abuse you enough you might give up and drop it. Next time I will just unclip the Mio and continue to film (and audio) them, if needed the Police can deal with it. It also takes still pictures, handy.

Hi, Could you post a link to the UK Reseller ?
Thank you
The UK Seller is JooVuu:

Sillygoose,
Have a look at this mount on JooVuu. I have a smaller similar one from eBay which took 2 weeks to arrive. It sticks onto the windscreen and is one of the smallest mounts:

We have recently got the Mobius and fitted it to a Mondeo windscreen behind the rearview mirror, you can hardly see it.
Also got an extended charge lead and routed around the screen (be bold and jam it in, pull away the door side rubbers an slot behind).
Easy enough instructions via a link from the seller and set to come on and off when powered via the USB point ie. when the engine is switched.
I have never seen better vids from any dash cam than this, if you need to download scenes, simply plug the camera into your PC (or take out the micro memory) and play it from the various files which show.
The camera does not show co ordinates or the speed of your vehicle, neither of which we wanted (especially the speed bit!).
How much useful life these things have I don't know, but after watching Techmoans vid I gather that this dashcam comes from the same stable as the people who make 'spycams', so they are no new players in the market.0 -
