    Hello Diary

Well yesterday was another very busy day at college. I was a good girl and took my own lunch but I still went over my £5 coffee budget!! Grr!! Spent £5.45 so I need to really tighten up on this next week!

In other news I made a small impulse purchase the other day when I was getting dog food. My poor doggy has had the same scabby bed for 3 years now and he pretty much refuses to go anywhere near it. When I was in petsathome they had a really nice cushion bed in the reduced aisle. It was £15. I bought it!! I justified it because he does need a new one, the old one cost £60 and I had a 10% off voucher so it actually only cost £13.50 which is a bit of a bargain for a dog bed. I'm going to cover it from the grocery budget and hubby and I will cut back a bit there. Good news is the hound loves it!

Other news both good and bad:

    Good News
*Paid off my loan minimum payment today which has brought me up to 15.16% paid!! Yay! I'm totally going to hit that 20% this month.
*Got results from the other 2 modules I have completed at college. I got 2 merits. So so far I have 2 distinctions and 2 merits!!
*You might remember me a while back saying hubby was looking at a job that would be permenant night shifts. Well good news is his boss is really keen for him to do it. It'll be an adjustment for us to get used to but it will be more money and hubby will be learning a skill that can be transferred to other industries.

    Bad news
*I've got a few expenses coming up which are not budgeted for. The big ones being I need a tooth veneer replaced which will cost £214 and I had my bi-annual free eyetest (thanks work) and I need glasses!! The glasses I'm happy to leave for a while but the tooth does need doing soon. I have £92 in our emergency fund so I can use this and I'm going to ask the dentist if I'm able to pay in stages to spread the cost a bit.

Going for a NSD today. Can't think of anything that needs to be spent. I've got to send an eBay package but the postage is paid for that so it doesn't count.

Who watched Bake Off last night?? I was sad to see Glenn go but really he isn't as good as the others. I really liked Kimberly at the start but now she really grates on me. She's such a know it all and that just winds me up. I think I'd like to see Ruby win the competition overall.

Plans for today are to catch up on emails from yesterday and if I get chance catch up on surveys. Also need to check our meter readings for our gas and electric switch.

Hope everyone is having a great debt busting day.
  • Of course you will make 20% this month :D x

I watched Bake off I loved Glen :( I really dislike Ruby, I don't like how often she crys/puts herself down when I'm sure all the others have worries etc. I liked her at first but now I think *grow up* :o

Yeah I can see that. She got herself in a right flap last night! I think she is the most naturally talented one of them though. Frances did well though last night and I like her fancy designs, it was good to see her actually bake something tasty though.

Woo Hoo!! Just cashed out a £10 Amazon voucher from one of my survey sites. That puts me a tenth of the way towards my make an extra £100 each month challenge.

Came home to find the V5 for our new car waiting for me! Yay! Also the dealers have said they will give us 7 days free insurance so I don't need to organise a one day insurance for our old car so we can pick up the new one. This has saved us £25! Awesome!

Got my eBay package posted, done the pots, got my lasagne out to defrost, walked the hound, sorted out insurance and now just chilling with the hound listening to some tunes! Hubby should be home soon, hopefully he's heard about this new job! Keep your fingers crossed!

Now that is a positive day! Sounds like you have just had everything line up for you today - go wegle! Bit bummed I missed the bake off last night - hubby and I love those shows but always seem to miss them. We've seen a couple from the latest series. When is the next one? Masterchef is our favourite although Gordon Ramsey getting his knickers in a twist in Hell's Kitchen is also up there!

Crossing my fingers about your hubby's job but I don't think I need to - you have the luck of the Irish today! :D

    Hello Diary and everyone!!

Sorry I didn't get on here yesterday. Ended up having a very busy day at work due to the weather. Was out and about most day dealing with flooding issues and then I had the dentist in the afternoon.

Dentist was ok but for the work I need done on my tooth I needed to pay £196!!! That’s a huge chunk of my allocated for debt repayments. Spoke to hubby about it and we agreed that I could use the little that we currently have in our emergency fund towards it. Ultimately this is the type of thing the fund is being set up for, it’s just a shame there wasn’t a lot in it! Nevertheless, with the money taken out of the emergency fund I had to cover £95.70 out of my own money. Still not great but hopefully I can swallow this by cutting back some other areas.

I’m planning to forego the following from my budget to cover this:

*Clothing £20. The only thing I really need at the moment is a new winter coat and I can definitely make mine last a little longer.
*Haircut £30. It’s not been cut in 6 months so one more month won’t hurt.
*Dog agility £16. I’m going to tell the trainer I can only come every other week until after Christmas.

So that’s £66 pound of it covered. As long as I stay in budget for everything else this month and hopefully get some survey payouts I should easily hit my 20% still. Also need to get some more stuff on eBay again. So this weekend I’m going to make sure I list 5 things on eBay.

Today is weekly shop time. I’ve written my list and will go on mysupermarket later to find the best prices. I’m going to write these on my list, as even though mysupermarket let you send the list to your phone, the reception in our Tesco is awful and last week my phone wouldn’t load the list up and this was really frustrating!! I’m also going to pop to home bargains and petsathome before Tesco so if I have the prices on my list I can compare them to what’s available in those shops and if they are cheaper there buy them then! Home bargains is amazing! I just need to be disciplined and not pick up anything that is not on the list!!

Also need to get a card for my step son as it’s his birthday next week. Need to get £50 out of our birthday and Christmas fund to put in the card as well. It’s so nice now to have a birthday and crimbo fund so I don’t panic about where the money is going to come from!

We’re not having our usual chips for tea tonight as I’m making home made pizzas for me and hubby. This will save us £4.80 out of my entertainment budget and hopefully they will be delicious!!

Exciting news is tomorrow is car pick up day!! Yay! I so can’t wait to be able to drive places without panicking that the car is going to die at any moment!

On the NSD front, due to college and dentist I’ve only managed 1 this month so far! However today should be one (groceries don’t count as they are a joint expense), and I think tomorrow will be one (unless I need to pay anything with the car) and Sunday will definitely be one.

Hope everyone is having a great Debt Free Day!
