Wegle, I'm a bit of a jewellery nut - used to work for a diamond dealer in NY. Yes it is likely the nickel which I am guessing comes from the ring being some kind of gold. The lower the ct of the gold, the worse the problem can be because the more alloy it contains. Some gold is made to be good for sensitive skin, but most of it isn't. I don't know if you have gone for white gold, but it is highly unlikely you would be allergic to platinum or palladium - might be worth considering a remake? Both of those metals are almost pure so no irritating alloys. It's possible that it your ring is white, it was dipped in rhodium (also from the platinum family) which will have created a barrier with your skin but this wears off in time which is why white gold has a tendency to yellow over time. Gold is buttery yellow and mixing it with alloys to make it white can only do so much - hence the rhodium plating. It may be possible to redip it but you would have to do that continually.

I have no idea if it is possible to grow out of these sensitivities. Also, check you are not trapping soap or other chemicals underneath it when you wash your hands/ moisturise etc - they might be the culprits rather than the ring itself. Xx

    Thanks HOK3Y.

It is a white gold ring 9ct. I would love platinum but our budget just wouldn't stretch to that. I knew about the whole rhodium dipping and another friend did suggest getting it re-dipped may be an option if it persists.

A friend of mine lent me some really strong steroid cream that has cleared up the rash completely. And since then I've had my ring back on but been 100% sure I take it off when washing my hands and have been using my marigolds when doing the washing up!! It's been back on for about 24 hours now and touch wood the rash hasn't reappeared, so hopefully it is just the soap etc getting stuck under it that was causing the problem.

Hubby says that if it continues we will just have to get a new ring, but ideally I'd like to keep this one as it is the ring I had on my wedding day.

Hopefully it's just the ring and not actual MARRIAGE that I'm allergic to!!! :rotfl:

    Just a quick little update.

In readiness for the end of the month I have just paid £150 to my credit card bringing my total percentage paid to 25.75%. Need to get to 27% for this month's target which is another £60.50. I have £87 left in my bank account so I should be able to do this.

I'm at 11 NSDs so need another 4 to hit target. Today will be a NSD and I will try my best for Wed, Thurs and Fri to be ones too so I can hit target.

Great month on surveys this month and I've smashed my make an extra £100 target this month. Hopefully I'll have a couple more cheeky pay outs before the end of the month!
