With regards to the Smoking I agree that you can only do it when you're in the right frame of mind and anyone nagging you will just make you want to smoke for longer!!
When I did it I was set a Challenge with a nice reward that I really wanted so when I had given up for 3 months I got that reward....and I have never looked back.
I don't know if this will help - But why not try to reduce a little...so if you currently smoke 10 rollies a day...why not change that to 8 and that's your limit for the day? Don't know if that will help a little....
But you're doing Sooooooooooo well...keep it up!!0 -
Ugh! You know how I said how much I hate housework? Well I had an epic housework fail today! Got home and thought, I'll just run the Hoover round quickly. Now our Hoover is new to us (one of mother in law's hand me downs) and I'm not 100% on how it works yet (because it's rocket science obviously!). Anyhoo, I see that the compartment (is that what it's called) needs emptying, I manage to get it frees from the Hoover, which is a small victory! On our old Hoover you pressed a button and the top popped up so you could turn it upside down and empty it out. I'm stood there, in the kitchen, trying to work out how to do this new one, and then I see the button! Yay! I think and go to push it so the top pops up and I can then take it to the outside bin. OH NO! This is some kind of special, mystery, stupid Hoover where the button makes the bottom open, upon which all contents of said compartment immediately fall to the ground wherever it be that you are standing. So yes I emptied our Hoover all over the kitchen floor :wall: :wall: :wall: . After swearing a bit, kicking it a bit, blaming my husband a bit I put it all back together, hoovered up everything I had just emptied on the floor, took the whole lot outside just in case it had anymore surprises in store, emptied the backwards stupid compartment and finally actually started the real job of hoovering the living room. After that I needed a well deserved sit down and haven't moved since then!0

Haha that sounds like my housework exploits!!0

Lol! I can just imagine the look on your face as it all landed on your feet!
Cut yourself some slack with the ciggies. As everyone else concurred, you have to want it for yourself. Hubby used to run smoking cessation classes. The US docs will prescribe meds to make you feel nauseated if you smoke which provides negative reinforcement. Don't know if the docs here will do the same??Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -

Rewards are definitely a great idea, but now just isn't the right time for me. It'll happen one day for sure, I definitely don't want to be the scary granny in the corner hocking her lungs up, that the grand kids are scared of! :eek:FacelessNumber wrote: »Haha that sounds like my housework exploits!!
Seriously this sort of carp could only happen to me. :rotfl: the look on the dogs face as he nearly got covered in s*@t was priceless!Lol! I can just imagine the look on your face as it all landed on your feet!

Yeah I'm not beating myself up too much about it. It's my one vice and for the time being I'm keeping it. When I've given up previously I've used patches, tabs or gone cold turkey and never had any problems actually quitting, I actually found it pretty easy. It was always about a year down the line and I would decide I missed smoking and would start again! :wall: my mum smoked for years and years and tried to give up loads of times. She eventually quit for good just over 10 years ago, when I asked why she'd managed to stick with it this time she said that this was the only time that she really wanted to quit, not just that she thought she should.
Not much going on in the wegle household this evening. Hubby just for home and his night shifts this week have now been cancelled. Boo! Hopefully he'll still have some next week.
Inspired by HOK3Y's positivity thread I've put a little chart on our fridge. It's my 100% challenge chart. It has 100 boxes on it and I get to colour one in every time I hit 1%, so it's already got 5 boxes coloured in. Hubby. Thought it was a cool idea and says he will try and colour in a few boxes too to help out!:j
Just getting settled in for my weekly telly viewing. Great British Bake Off followed by midwives. Hubby says all I do is think about baking and making babies!! :rotfl: I think that makes me perfect wifey material!0 -
Sorry there's loads of typos in my posts. I'm on my tablet and the touchscreen keypad can't keep up with my typing speed and it's too much of a pain in the a*se to go back and edit everything!0

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 2 stars!!!!!!!!! :j0
-
Yes you do!! Congratulations!!!
Love the chart idea - that's brilliant......do you mind if I steal it and do the same here at home? I think it will really help hubby to be involved also. Numbers scare him so seeing something visual in chart form will probably be really helpful. Thanks for such a great idea!
Now, off to read my own positivity thread because I need it!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Of course you can pinch it my dear! It was your idea in the first place anyway! :j
Today is really dragging for me. I've sat in 2 endless pointless meetings and am now just counting down the hours till I can go home!
Surveys seem to have really quitened off the last few days. I'm really close to payout on 2 sites and they haven't sent me any new surveys for days!!!
So really there's not any debt busting news to report. My ebay items have got a few watchers and 2 items have 99p bids on so they will definitely sell. :j
One of my work friends and I usually go to this local music festival every year and we were chatting about next year. Somehow the conversation developed and we've somehow decided that we would like to go to a European festival and drive there in her campervan! :j This would be awesome, but in able to afford it I really need to get rid of this debt. I've already got Silverstone booked for next year which isn't going to be cheap. That is all paid for though, just need to save up spending money. But if we do go ahead with this Euro festival I will need at least £1000 to do it without worrying about cash. So that's a new incentive to get cracking on with the debt busting.
In fact I'm going to list here all the things that I am aiming for when I get debt free:
* 1st anniversary at Silverstone F1 Grand Prix!! :beer:
* Apple MacBook Pro
* Euro Festival girly trip!! :beer:
I've got to make absolutely every single penny count. In order to achieve the above I need to pay off my debt and save £2500. £500 will come from our joint savings which is for the spending money at F1. So personally I need to pay off £4669.94 and save £2000. A total of 6669.94. By July next year???? :cool: It's gonna be tough and actually the MacBook can wait until xmas next year, so if I revise that to £5669.94 by July next year. That means I need to find £516 a month. I already have £341 allocated straight to debt repayment so need to find an extra £175 each month. Woah! That is gonna be tough.
Plans on how to make the extra £175:
* Ebay ebay ebay!!!
* Surveys and focus groups.
* Cashback websites.
* Put aside any money given for birthday and christmas towards Euro trip.
* Keep doing sealed pot - now earmarked for Euro trip.
* Get promoted at work!!- Not likely to happen in the time frame but I'm in my last year of college now and once qualified I will be pushing for promotion.
* Budget and plan - I really need to get into meal planning and batch cooking. Going to head over to the old style board later on for a good read.
Any other ideas really welcome! I'd love to do this trip but I will not be doing it if I can't save up for it beforehand.0 -
Well it's 20:30 and I'm in my jammies so I'm claiming today a NSD!!:j:j:j
That puts me up to 9, only one off my target, however I'm going to try for another 5 to get me to 15 for the month. I should be able to do it, mainly because I've got no money left!!:rotfl: well there's £45 in my current account but that's all allocated and bar an absolute emergency the £286 in my holding account is reserved for a nice big CC payment. :j
Not been up to too much tonight, been trying to download the new iOS to my iPhone but it keeps crashing, think everyone else must be trying too!other than that just been reading on here and watching CSI, hubby is playing some war plane computer game where he can chat with other people playing it, so hes got a load of guys from work playing it and all I keep hearing is military tactics and shouts of "YEAH! I got one!!" :rotfl:
